TOPEKA — The Kansas House on Thursday gave preliminary approval to a bill that would require voters to show photo identification at the polls and proof of citizenship to register to vote.

The measure, advanced on a 78-36 vote, is a top priority of Secretary of State Kris Kobach, a Republican, who said it was needed to prevent election fraud. A final House vote is expected today.

The bill would also authorize Kobach's office to prosecute election fraud cases, and increase the penalties for election crimes.

State Rep. John Rubin, R-Shawnee, said the measure would ensure that the votes of legal voters aren't “diluted by anyone who cannot legally vote in Kansas.”

[They said the additional requirements to vote will suppress voter turnout, especially among minorities, the elderly and those with disabilities.]

WHY?!? They can’t get photo ID for some reason? Anyone KS resident can get a KS ID card.

Good to see another state getting proactive on keeping illegal voters off the rolls.

Both sides of the political spectrum scream “voter fraud.” Who can be against a guaranteed “one person - one vote” bill like this? The only ones who would object to this guarantee would be those who disapprove of fair elections and need the vote fraud in order to win their elections, right?

The welfare department already hands out picture IDs. They already have what they need to collect their monthly checks.

Actually, both sides DON’T scream “voter fraud” -

the left screams “voter suppression”
and the right screams “voter fraud”.

Both are actually saying the same thing -
if you require voters to be valid, you WILL suppress the democRat vote.

Both sides know it.

They said the additional requirements to vote will suppress voter turnout, especially among minority(Democrats), the elderly (Democrats) and Illegal Aliens voting for Democrats.

There! Fixed it!

You forgot the Necro-Americans, the left’s most solid voting bloc.
