BEST PICTURE

Nominees: Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, The King's Speech, 127 Hours, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, True Grit, Winter's Bone

Prediction: “The King’s Speech”

The bottom line: while Oscar voters appear to really like “The Social Network,” they LOVE “The King’s Speech.” In many ways, it’s a throwback to the Oscar film of yesterday – like “Casablanca,” “Around the World in 80 Days,” “Lawrence of Arabia,” “The Godfather” and “Out of Africa.” Grand art direction and costumes, beautiful cinematography and score, magnificent performances and an examination of history – “The King’s Speech” has it all.

Come Sunday night, it will have the Best Picture Oscar, as well.

BEST ACTOR

Prediction: Colin Firth, “The King’s Speech”

BEST ACTRESS

Prediction: Natalie Portman, “Black Swan”

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

Prediction: Christian Bale, “The Fighter”

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS

Prediction: Melissa Leo, “The Fighter”

...gritty gritty but man that little girl has heart...the Jew from Deadwood (the series) sorta steals the movie too.

His name is John Hawkes and he played Sol Starr in DEADWOOD as well as Teardop in WINTER's BONE.

Watched THE SOCIAL NETWORK last night. It was good but I'd still take TRUE GRIT or THE FIGHTER over it.

Hawkes character is scary but he loves the girl..as he should..she’s his blood and those jokers killed his brother

even if his brother was a rake...you still can’t take that lying down

i liked that flick so much I told my wife about it first thing the next morning

Hawkes was sympathetic in Deadwood too you know..took in the whore and was sort of the conscience of the show..man that series had way too much cursing..even for me....and all the children die and the women are mostly treated so terrible.

You read how folks spoke back them from accounts and that was not accurate. Folks back then did not curse like they were in Australia..

Though Carradines comments about how that jerk who shot him lips look when he speaks has never left me...I think that when someone is speaking to me that irritates me or is full of themself

Boys on dirt bikes

Girls nearing mid 20s

Good lord and me eyeing 60 getting closer

How did all this happen?

I want to be back at Prep in 73 in a Van with curtains sharing a doobie before class grooving to Ziggy Stardust with not a care in the world..

LOL!

I would love to be in a night club, on the dance floor listening, and dancing my heart out to, BTO, Cream...and other such bands.

I’ll be 60 in April.

I can’t wait until my next reunion. I’m going to hijack some of the local single guys and freak dance with them.

Lordy...the eyebrows that will be raised! lol
