The Oscars 2011: Which Cause Will Inspire the Most Obnoxious Political Statements?
Big Hollywood ^ | 2/25/2011 | Jeffrey Jena

Well it’s that time of year when all of the rich leftists in Hollywood get out their $40,000 dollar gowns, put on their millions in jewelry, climb into their limos, and head up to the Kodak Theater to pat themselves on the back for being working class heroes. I couldn’t care less about which picture or actor gets a trophy, I just love listening to the political correctness and monumental hubris on display for the world to see.

This year I have decided to add my own category. The category is: Which liberal cause will come up most often during the evening. And the nominees are:

Republicans Destroying Unions: Starring: The State of Wisconsin, Screenplay by John Trumka and Mitch Stewart. I predict that at least three people will mention how they stand in solidarity with the government workers in Wisconsin, and around the world. Forget the fact that the Screen Actors Guild and AFTRA, the two largest performer’s unions, don’t allow their “poorer” members access to the union health care plan or pension at any price. Multimillionaire union actors will stand with their brothers and sisters who are being asked to fork over a few bucks for their lavish benefit packages. As we already know, SAG has been drumbeating for the folks protesting in Wisconsin already! I love how my unions spend my money on causes with which I don’t agree, but I’m getting off the subject.

If they have a ribbon for support of big labor, it should include a yellow stripe down the center of it to honor the runaway Dems.

It will be ALL about unions tomorrow night. Hopefully, the clueless will be told by TPTB to stifle their opinions in their acceptance speeches.

One huge moment for these morons will be when the lying piece of crapola attacking the new method for drilling for natural gas wins an award for best documentary. They ought to change the name of that category to “Best Enviro-whacko Propaganda Pretending to be Science”.

I don’t know about that. I think the Egypt-Libya-Jordan-Yemen-Saudi-Tunisia riots are more likely to get lip service from the superficial H-wood crowd.

Also, the whining about an absence of nominations for “people of color”.

Yes, I'm so sad about that. I know: to make restitution, let's make a law that no white people can appear in films for the next two years. We'll see just how much sympathy for minorities exists in the Hollywood crowd.

Once again I will miss this stupid awards “event.” A load of butt kissing is all it is. I think the very last time I might have watched a minute or two of these was when Patton won best picture back in like 1970 or 1971 sometime.

The Oscars laid an egg with Oprah’s ‘Precious’ project. This year they need to redeem themselves with
‘The King’s Speech’ which was an outstanding movie. A gift to us who still pay money to see these things.

I expect that they have been told to keep their speeches short sweet.
Every year their ratings have gone down.
Can’t risk people changing channels because some dweeb is ‘making a statement of solidarity’......

if a rabid liberal is involved in the film, we won't rent, stream or pay to see it. The bargain piles of $2.99 and $3.99 movies at Big Lots and Walmart are calling them for some indoctrinated loser to purchase. The Oscars are a joke (awarding liberals for activism), as is the Nobel Peace Prize with it's highly questionable award to Al Gore.

Nobel Committee bypassed Holocaust savior for Al Gore

For instance, meet Irena Sendler, a 97-year-old Polish woman who saved 2,500 Jewish children from certain death in the Warsaw ghetto during World War II.

First of all, this Oscars 2011 is going to be a hard sell. Not much interest, although “The Fighter”, “The King’s Speech” & “True Grit” are outstanding films. The actors in both “The King’s Speech” and “True Grit” best keep their pie holes shut about any politics if they have any brains. Both films are about “individual” pursuit of life, disability, freedom and duty and they do not lend themselves to the usual “Hollywood” political babble which no one listens to at all!!! But....let us see what verbal damage “Hollywood” conjures up to shoot itself in the foot, once more!!!

I watched last year for the first time in many years. It was a pleasant surprise. No political crap, everyone dressed to the nines and on their good behavior.

I think they might be getting the message . . . at least until the economy recovers.

Will they bash Bush again? Seems to be a permanent part of the Leftist, self-agrandizing demonstration of hubris known as the “Oscars”.

Actually, they will probably bash Wisconsin’s Governor Walker... and probably a stab or two at Sarah Palin.

If last year was any clue, I would say no they won’t. Alec Baldwin co-hosted last year and there were NO politics.

I could care less if the leftist in Sodom in LA get the message or not. They are not normal everyday people. They live in their drug and sex filled world and could care less about those that do not followed their stupid ways. Not me. I do not put money in their pockets. They are not getting the message. All you have to do is see it on TV, read it on the Internet, etc. You see their garbage, hate, of the Military, Patriots, Christians, Conservatives, etc. Too heck with them. They are all haters and abettors of Obama and his crime syndicate.

Frankly, I was surprised at last year's best actor winner, Jeff Bridges. I like Bridges, but the film he won for (Crazy Heart) was very ordinary . . . almost at the level of a TV film.

I’m a WWII history buff so, for me, “The King’s Speech” was right up my alley. Acting in the film, Colin Firth/Geoffrey Rush, across the board was flawless, mainly because the cast was made up of professional stage actors, whom IMHO blow away anything that “Hollywood” offers, at least in most instances. However, disregarding their politics, Jeff Bridges and Christian Bale are both fantastic actors, no matter how you score it. Just one man’s opinion!!!
