"'Becoming a grandmother at 29 is my worst nightmare' says mum after discovering her 14-year-old daughter is pregnant"

A woman who is set to become Britain's youngest grandmother at 29 said it was 'her worst nightmare' when she discovered her 14-year-old daughter was pregnant.

Kelly John said she always hoped Tia would not repeat her mistake and become pregnant at 14.

But after getting over the shock, the grandmother-to-be has vowed to do 'everything' to bring up the new baby.

Grandma-to-be needs to learn to play the guitar. Loretta Lynn was a grandmother at 28. Of course, she did manage to stay married to the father of her children.

Flo, the broad that sells insurance, because I’m convinced she’s the anti-Christ and is from the netherworld... ;-)

HA!

My husband goes into a conniption fit every time the Flo commercials pop up - it's a genuine deep seated hatred...

Of course I think he's a riot and laugh when they come on...once the first musical note in the commercial hits- his ears perk up like a german shepherd.

Anoreth is almost 20, but she has a military career, and a “boyfriend” on the other side of the continent from where she lives. I don’t expect any of my teenagers to be parents. We’re teaching them to get married and get lives first (or the other way around). Not that we’ll die if there’s a child under circumstances that aren’t what we hope for ... but we’re actively teaching *and* setting the example of doing better for oneself and one’s children.

92 year old great great great grandmother. With 6 generations doesn’t that average out to about 15 years old for the birth of each one.

GRandmothers this age is not uncommon in Cairo.

I was amazed to find this out as the protests went on there and some protestors let Western media crews into their homes.

Some 30-something Western media reporter white guy was interviewing a 22 year old protestor who had a wife, 2 kids, and his mother was younger than the reporter.

Boy was he surprised when he asked if the grandmother was the protestor’s older sister or not. Protestor translated to grandma on camera and the whole family was laughing at the reporter and cameraman.

It might be well and good in Cairo, but waht about the West? I mean, there’s no future for these women and the poor kid will be seen as a burden and an interference in thier lives. No good job, problems finding a nice man, and problems with making friends. Welfare, yes, but what else?

Jsut remind them taht welfare won’t always be there and that paying for their kid will be on their shoulders alone.

Welfare people have no concept of any other way of life. Our family’s idea would be that either the parents would take care of a child, or the grandparents would help ... or adoption to a family with an adequate income.

However, I have six sons. If they knock up some chick, the child’s future is entirely in the mother’s control. Welfare, various other boyfriends around, whatever goes on. One of my friends has a granddaughter whose mother has been in and out of jail since the child was born, but they’re still struggling to get permanent custody of the child so she can go to school for a while term in one place.

Realistically, there’s no such thing as effective contraception. If you don’t want grandchildren all over the economy, you must teach and practice chastity ... and even that may not work.

If only we made welfare a little more unpleasant for poeple on it long term. Preferably if you have more than one kid, it’s more monitored and you have to answer for the money spent. It should be liberal in the first six years, but as time goes by, there should be requirements.

Someone needs to find out what causes this kind of problem and bury it in the backyard.

“great great great grandmother Mabel.”

I’m thinking my family goes about child-rearing differently. My children’s great grandmother died in 1986 at the age of 98 before they were born. I have no idea when MY great grandmothers died (in Europe). I figure my great, great, great, grandmother probably died before the Civil War!

It sounds like teen marriage is common in Egypt.
