1 in 4 cancer cases missed: GPs send away alarming number of patients, delaying vital treatment
Daily Mail ^ | 2/27/11 | by Sophie Borland & David Wilkes

A quarter of cancer sufferers are being sent away by GPs with their early warning signs dismissed as minor ailments, a study reveals today. Tens of thousands of patients are initially told that their symptoms are ‘nothing to worry about’ or advised to take painkillers or antibiotics for months. They have to make repeated trips to their doctor before being given a correct diagnosis, the report concludes. Britain has one of the lowest cancer survival rates in Europe despite billions being invested in treatment over the last decade.

“Britain has one of the lowest cancer survival rates in Europe despite billions being invested in treatment over the last decade.”

That’s a preview of Obamacare - this is what socialist healthcare gets you.

” Coming soon to a country (known as the U.S.A.) near you. “

Already happens here - I had a VA Emergency Room Doc ignore the growth clearly visible on a chest x-ray and send me home with an anti-smoking lecture...

Fortunately, my Primary Care Provider (a PA) caught it two months later and got me in to see Oncology in time that Chemo-Radiation completely got rid of the cancer, so my particluar go-around had a happy ending... (almost 2 years cancer-free now)

It’s not a matter of ‘turning them away’. It’s a matter of the criteria that is set by the ‘state’. When looking the NHS when my FIL (God rest his soul) was sick, they follow a blueprint. You don’t even have to be a trained to physician. You just follow the ‘guidelines’.

Patient exhibits ‘A’ (symptoms).....refer to ‘B’, etc. You would NOT believe the files I pulled up a few years ago that are now locked down by the NHS on the web. It’s sickening.

He could have been treated for cancer sooner had they NOT followed ‘the plan’.

Back in August, 1986, 3 different doctors said my father had “a bad case of the flu.”

He was dead from cancer before the end of January, 1987.

Just an FYI.....I've seen plenty of Doc's miss things on x-rays. Even Radiologists...

It's an art...sure. But I've seen some absolute horrible "reports" on films...that appeared like they never really looked at the film.

Sad but true.

Yup!
My GP missed mine.
Fortunately, I visited a specialist the following week, who set me up with the proper tests.
Nearly 5 years clean, thank the Lord!

That may be true in Britain, but it is far from fact here. My GP is extremely competent, knows I have 2 major cancers in my history and keeps a very close eye on my and my health for any signs of another cancer. I’m completely confident that he knows what he’s doing and is providing me with the very best of care.

I’m truly sorry things are that way in Britain but they are not that way here, at least not yet, and I am hopeful that as we continue to clean house in Congress and get people elected that understand our Constitution, cancer treatment will never get that way in the US.

Maybe I am specially blessed to have such quality healthcare available to me and if so I am thankful for that. But I don’t think I’m alone in this boat and a lot of people have healthcare that is every bit as good if not better.

He was dead from cancer before the end of January, 1987.

My mother's GP told her the same thing and sent her home back in 1983, she kept going back and he told her 3 times she had the flu. Finally we all made her go see a specialist and he found cancer of the esophagus, it was inoperable and incurable and she died 3 days after being admitted to the hospital. She had all the classic symptoms of cancer, loss of weight etc., but the doc ignored those.

Yep...

Say, I bet all these idiot “docs” went to the same medical “skool”.

F*ing morons.

These stories are reported daily in the UK press, which I follow.

These stories are NEVER reported in the US democrat party controlled media.

Liberal bias prevents any real news reporting in the US.

Do you even smoke? My brother died of lung cancer and never smoked a day in his life. He still got the lecture. The doc was floored when my brother told him he’d never smoked.

This article is based on the false premise that the health industry has a cure for cancer.

It certainly does not, at least for the large minority of patients who will continue to fight the disease for decades without a clear direction or solution from the health industry. A word of caution to everyone:

1 in every 2 people in the United States will be diagnosed with "cancer" some time in their lives.

That is a fairly broad statement based on a number of factors including age, disposition, and overall health. This is the same as screaming FIRE in a crowded room. Everyone is afraid of it, but few will actually understand it.

To be fair, kidney cancer is extremely rare in a 31 year old, and gall bladder cancer is rare at any age. But I’m surprised the man had so many tests, and it never was diagnosed.

I know a woman that has Lung Cancer that was told she has a “cold” by a Nurse Practitioner, after deciding to go to the doctor’s office having had a persistent cough for weeks.

Coming soon

It is here. I haven't seen my GP in a year. They've tossed me off on their PA who can bill at a GP rate and fill prescription after prescription. I'm up to 29 pills a day. Moving to a new GP is nearly impossible as they are all at their limits.
