Hatch: Health law a 'dumb-ass' program
By Jordan Fabian - 02/28/11 01:43 PM ET

GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch (Utah) reportedly directed a few profane insults toward President Obama's healthcare law in a speech late last week.

During at an appearance at an event sponsored by the Utah State University College Republicans, Hatch was asked whether he thought the nation's healthcare system needs serious reforms. He acknowledged that states have different problems when it comes to healthcare, but called the federal law Democrats passed last year a "dumb-ass program" that will not solve them.

"Every state has different demographics, every state has different problems," Hatch said, according to a Utah Statesman report published Monday. "It's good to allow them to work out their own problems rather than a one-size-fits-all federal government, dumb-ass program. It really is an awful piece of crap."

Hatch apologized for swearing, according to the Statesman. Hatch explained that "he does not swear often. He said he is passionate about the health care debate and would repent for using the words that he did," the Statesman wrote.

Hatch's office did not immediately respond to an inquiry from The Hill.

The senior Utah senator currently serves as ranking member of the powerful Senate Finance Committee, but could face a tough primary challenge from the right when he is up for reelection in 2012.

Hatch has opposed the healthcare law from the get-go, but he has reached out to Tea Party activists in order to display his conservative credentials to the grassroots activists.

Tea Partiers helped propel Mike Lee to GOP convention victory over then-Sen. Robert Bennett (R-Utah) last year. Lee won the general election and joined the newly-formed Senate Tea Party Caucus this year.

Hatch told the Utah State audience he is ready for the challenge of running for a seventh term.

"Anybody who wants to can run against me, that's their right, but all I can say is I intend to win," he said. "When people look at what I've done, what I can do and how hard I've worked, I they're going to say, ‘Hey, that experience is good for Utah and the nation as well.'"

Yup...he’s trying pathetically to improve his standing with the Tea Party who have him on the ‘TO GO NOW’ list. Even if he said ‘Obama, you are the worst piece of trash on earth” it won’t save his RINO ass.

“Ass” and “crap” profane this poor reporter’s tender ears?

He better be kept away from the union protestors in Madison, Wisconsin.

For that matter, he better be kept away from a cable TV during anything other than “family time.” Do they still have “family time?”

If you’re wondering what makes me think Jordan Fabian is a “he,” you can use Google Images to find a picture of a recent Cornell grad who might be this Jordan Fabian.

I have to admit, though, even his picture is not -entirely- decisive.

I hope that the Utah Tea Parties throw Hatch out on his rear end. He needs to spend more time with his grand children.

If you’re the age of the average nursing home resident, it’s time to quit politics.

Bye Orrin. Thanks for your conservative stands back in the early 80’s.

First time I’ve heard anything sensible come out of Orrin’s Hatch in a long time.

Agree - nice to FINALLY see someone calling a spade a spade. Maybe he is taking the Tea Party threat seriously.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Hopefully, the Tea Party will get some solid conservative votes out of him in the next 1 1/2 years.

By the way, I visit Utah to ski and have friends there. You should see the letters that my friends have received from Hatch regarding Obama’s eligibility. They are INSULTING in their stupidity. These letters come straight from the DNC or DOJ talking points.

The man is DISGUSTING! WHAT A SPINELESS WEENIE! He has gonads smaller than a dust mite.

We can only hope. The Utah Tea Party is one of the most organized in the nation. What they accomplished in electing Mike Lee was very impressive.

Wow. Pretty strong. You should channel some of your anger into teaching your kids to read and learn math. Just kidding...I love your stories on that subject (i.e., your kids - awesome).

Anyway, if he feels some heat...so much the better - it’s a win-win for us.

Hatch is a RINO that is just looking to get reelected. We need to run someone up against this traitor.
