Statement in Response to President Obama’s Misunderstanding

Madison– Today President Obama again weighed in against Governor Walker’s proposal to balance the state’s budget deficit by having state government workers contribute a modest amount toward their own pensions and pay 12.6 percent toward their healthcare premiums.

In response to the President’s comments, the Governor’s Press Secretary Cullen Werwie issued the following statement:

I'm sure the President knows that most federal employees do not have collective bargaining for wages and benefits while our plan allows it for base pay. And I'm sure the President knows that the average federal worker pays twice as much for health insurance as what we are asking for in Wisconsin. At least I would hope he knows these facts.

Furthermore, I’m sure the President knows that we have repeatedly praised the more than 300,000 government workers who come to work every day in Wisconsin.

I’m sure that President Obama simply misunderstands the issues in Wisconsin, and isn’t acting like the union bosses in saying one thing and doing another.

I sure as heck hope Walker stands firm. I hope his “24 hour” warning means he’ll start firing anyone he’s legally able to fire.

God Bless Gov. Walker for calling this union-puppet clown out.
When enough people put their foot down we will have our country back.

The President gets his campaign money from the unions. Leftists like to stick together. Trumka has been shown to be irresponsible.

Because of his stance and the dems juvenile delinquency, I have a feeling all but about 4 or 5 states will be Red in 2012... and, Obamy will be looking for a hot-dog stand in Chicago to convert into a Presidential Library... And, Hawaii may even retract their welcome matt... AND, may even discover that Obamy was not born there, as previously asserted.

Federal employee union have generally been put in their place since Reagan slapped them down. That’s not a bad argument to repeat: We are giving state employees a better deal than Federal employees get.

I hope you’re right. I just hope and pray that all the wavering RINOs out there, who may otherwise be good conservative folks other than their cowardice, take heart from Walker’s example and STEP UP.

Jean, could you tell me which health care workers are organized under this branch of the SEIU?

SEIU 1199

The SEIU covers all hospital workers on the west coast, but mostly just the extended care and home care givers in many other states. Do you know if there is any move to take over the nurses unions in Wisconsin?

The Gov of Wisconsin offers the state employees a better deal than Obama gives the union employees and President Obama doesn’t even know. It’s amateur hour in the White House. If Obama cared so deeply about the issue, why didn’t he address it in his first two years? He had huge majorities in both houses? He could have done something....
