Wisconsin GOP Senator Glenn Grothman chased, trapped by hecklers. Appearently police (who are siding with the unions) wouldn't let him in one entrance left him to the mob. Communism has come to Wisconsin.

Thought provoking piece over at American Thinker today titled "America Should Default." Our actual debts plus "unfunded liabilities" are far too huge to be solved through a combination of inflation, taxes and cost reductions. I think the proposal in this article may be the only way out of the jam; but the societal dislocations and turmoil, to say nothing of very risky geopolitics and potential war, are frightening in the extreme.

I would order the capitol police supervisors to follow my orders immediately and if they refused, I would fire every one of them that refused. Then I would order the police officers to follow my orders, and if they refused, I would fire them also.

I would then order the National Guard in to restore order to the capitol building, arming them.

If a judge tried to step in and annul my orders, I would declare martial law within the capitol area, and ignore the judges orders.

One thing Walker can do right now is start telling the truth about how the democrats are subverting democracy in Wisconsin by not following the constitution of that state, which calls for the people to elect representatives who then vote to enact laws. It’s majority rule—that’s democracy and the liberals are not following it and are subverting the democratic process in WI.

The Madison police are making threats against people who oppose the unions. Madison police officers are threatening public figures as well as private citizens. The police are threatening law-abiding tax -paying non-violent normal people. It is serious.

I say Bullbutter. The police are not threatening anybody. Knock it off with the unverified inflammatory remarks. I was there.

I like your solutions.

Seems like even Freepers are hoping for gov't to fix this. "Gov Walker"," Nat'l guard", "new Senate Rules". I'm telling you that we the people ARE the only solution. We have to get visible. We have to talk to our neighbors, put signs in our yards, show up at that capitol or at the missing Rats houses. Our fate is in our own hands (by God).

I don’t think we should default. But there’s going to have to be major cutbacks in Medicare and some reductions in social security benefits for affluent retirees. That will eventually have to happen along with higher inflation, but incredibly (and appallingly!), Obama apparently has decided not to do anything serious about the federal deficit until after the 2012 election. He’s truly Zero as a national leader. Four more years of partying at the White House is more important to him than America’s economic future.

With the police taking sides, this proves the argument that public employees should never have the right to unionize. And it is even worse when you have police supervisors in cohorts with the protesters, as is the case here.

No, I am talking about folks I encounter here day to day, and what they are saying. People think Walker is just rocking the boat a little too hard. Anything that hits the fan in Madison will be his fault in their eyes. I am at my wit’s end here.

Did you hear the Republican Assemblywoman, who was told by her Dem colleague,”you’re F....ng dead,” on Sean Hannity radio show this afternoon? She described the condition of the Capitol Building. She spoke of the filth, smells, feeling the need to use sanitizer just to touch a bannister. Sounds absolutely disgusting.

“The governor is not a God - he cannot fire city police officers”

Just wonderin’....

But from whom does a police officer receive his commision?

As head of the executive (enforcement) branch of state government, is that the governor?

If that is true, would he also have the power to revoke such a commision?

Their entire term, as stated in Wisconsin law is 30 days after leaving their seats vacant.
At that point the governor can declare the seats officially vacant and call for a special election.
Why do you think they are breaking ranks at all?

Turn the tables on them. This is war.

Lock them out.

One thing to keep in mind is that income tax rates escalate with higher income, and therefore very strong economic growth drives tax revenues way up because the federal government takes a large percentage of that last 25% of the income of business owners and professional people. So I think what we’re likely to see, once the economy finally gets rolling in a year or two, is more of an inflationary boom to drive up tax revenues and shrink the budget deficit. But I’m sure there will also be tax increases, especially sales tax increases at the state and local level.

Walker probably has much stronger support outside of WI than inside his own state. The best thing he can do is start talking about how the libs are not following their own state’s constitution.

The 2007 Insurrection Act may be what’s keeping Governor
Walker from calling out the National Guard. Read the
comment by “tharkun” in Richard Fernandez’ PJM blog
The Belmont Club, in “Egypt In America”? for a cite.
He, and his cite say it allows for Presidential pre-emption
of Governor, allowing the former to direct who and what
the Guard protect. The rationale was Louisiana inactivity
during Katrina and the aftermath.

"The hammer needs to come down. This kid gloves approach is asinine and will only invite further chaos."

This is exactly what happened with Iran and Carter in 79. He didnt apply necessary force from the get go. If they see that the Marines will SHOOT anyone attacking the embassy, they will think twice. And that was our problem back then with Carter.

I’ll tell you something else. I don’t know how this battle will ultimately play out in WI, but this temper tantrum by the dem legislators who left their state and all the nasty hateful protesters—all of that is NOT playing well in the battleground states for the 2012 presidential election. The libs may win a minor battle, at least temporarily in WI, but this temper tantrum and the nasty protests could very well cost them the White House in 2012. I can tell that this is not going over well with the center-right people who anchor the business broadcasts on CNBC. I can hear it in their voices and their choice of words.

Sounds like the Superdome during Katrina (my hometown unfortunately). There was feces all over the walls in the bathrooms. Animals, all of them.

At some point the dem seats need to be declared vacant, and then Walker can issue writs for a special election to fill the seats.

If the refuse to do their jobs and violate the law by not showing up when the senate is in session, the seats are vacant.
