Castle doctrine expansion approved by NC Senate
Updated: 11:10 a.m. yesterday

RALEIGH, N.C. — There's a legal presumption people inside their home, car or business are justified in shooting an intruder in legislation now heading to the North Carolina House.

The bill expanding the state's "castle doctrine" was given final Senate approval Monday night.

**SNIP**

The bill would shift the burden of proof to the district attorney that the shooting wasn't justified. A shooter also would be presumed to have acted appropriately during an attempted carjacking or business break-in.

Senators approved the bill 35-13 after opponents argued the expand doctrine would cause more people to arm themselves.

...the expand doctrine would cause more people to arm themselves.

And how many of those 'opponents' are armed?

I read this and had to laugh.
And then I thought, Hmmmm. . . I wonder how many more opponents are needed to convince the 13 no votes to change their votes?

>> opponents argued the expand doctrine would cause more people to arm themselves.

They say that like it’s a bad thing.

It’s not.

Colorado has the best Make My Day law, enacted in 1985. It simply says a person in your home committing an additional criminal act may be killed. So, you just can't kill someone standing there looking stupid, but if they are drinking your beer, nail 'em! (Just kidding) The simple fact is, don't enter someone ele's home, you might get killed.

Notice the crime rate headed down after the law was passed.

That's what I was thinking.

Senators approved the bill 35-13 after opponents argued realized the expand doctrine would cause allow more people to arm themselves.

That's their real problem....a law abiding citizen with the ability to defend themselves has much less of a need for shepherding by the ruling class.

This has occurred because the state’s voters sent the message, this last election, that 140 years of democRAT rule in N.C. was enough. The House and Senate is controlled by Republicans. This would not have been possible with the democRAT in charge. N.C. voters have been infiltrated by democRAT policy for long enough, said the voters during the election of 2010. On to 2012, in N.C., where the democRAT governor Bev Purdue, the chicken dung woman, is thrown out. WHOO HA!

I once got into a heated discussion in a bar with 3 guys from CA who insisted that states which implemented Castle Doctrine laws did not have lower crime rates. They espoused gun control.....oh, but they owned guns though.

Mindset of a liberal....I can own them, but you can’t.

"...opponents argued the expand doctrine would cause more people to arm themselves."

I'm not seeing a downside here.
