Father & Son Reunited After 57 Years

A family separated by more than five decades reunited today.
11Connects recently brought you the story of Alvin Miller Sr.
His children from a second marriage, helped him use facebook to track down his son, Alvin Miller Jr.
He left the area with his mother while Miller senior was still in the Navy.
Both father and son spent the last 57 years apart, but today they were reunited.
Both father and son were in tears as they saw each other for the first time in almost six decades.
The reunion took place at the Maple Grove Restaurant in Unicoi.
Alvin Miller Jr. also got to hug his brother for the first time, and hold his father for the first time, since he was six years old.
It seems that Miller Jr. had tried to find his family ever since 1964, and at times during that search, he was only a few miles from them.

I was reunited with my birth mother when I was 50 years old. Happened about 10 years ago. It was successful too.
I wrote a book about it 4 years ago, “Scattered Siblings (AuthorHouse),” detailing all the steps I had to take to find her, none of which was using the internet (it didn’t exist back then).
It’s a fascinating thing to go through and was well worth it. Not all reunions are successful, though. Congratulations to these two people.
Reminds me of Longfellow's "Evangeline".
I was 60 when I first made connection. A memorable day. It was also the day I received my first imac in the post office. I went from being an only child and orphan to one of four children and many nieces and nephews. The thing was had so much in common though reared entirely apart.
