Students at University of California, Berkeley chained themselves to a perch on the ledge of a school building for nearly 8 hours yesterday.
The students were protesting to make their demands known about budget cuts to public education.
Protestors also gathered below the students, police later set off pepper spray to encourage the crowd to leave.
After 9:00 last night the students ended their demonstration after coming to an agreement with authorities to avoid being arrested.
School administration agreed to host a town hall meeting with students to discuss their concerns about budget cuts.

Jump!
JUUUUUUUUUMMMMP!
JUMP!
Of course the perch was at ground level, but these are Berkley students.
I always wonder with these long protests, what do they do if they have to go to the bathroom?
Wow...It really will be just like Greece when (if?) they start to make REAL spending cuts
And not just 0.01%
With their hands chained did anyone consider how they would relieve themselves?? ;-)
Schooling starts at fall...
I fail to see the link between acting like a pigeon and commentary on budgets.
They go in their red diapers.
Someone give them a push!
JUMP you whiny illegals!
WTF? ...to make their demands known? Sorry, but you don't get to make demands yet. After you've paid taxes for 10 or 15 years, then maybe I'll listen to you. Until then, get your a$$ off MY building and either get back to class or look for a job at Taco Bell, you spoiled brats!
Oh FRiend,
You cut off the prooooograms and the natives will riot!
That’s the only time they are motivated to get off the couch and away from the television you and I are paying for.
It baffles me that so many Americans believe we can continue hemorrhaging money. They quip: “just raise taxes!”

What are you waiting for?
Who told them how to do this? They’re obviously not bright enough to have figured it out for themselves.
Cool! free gargoyles. how european.
some good natured folks need to drop some water baloons on their pointy little heads of mush.
bird brains
Looks like it is a safe ledge to me. Not much different than a college dorm where kids sit to sun themselves when spring comes. Agreeing to have a meeting, just encourages this sort of behavior. IMNSHO.
