McCain flunks Made in America 101
CNN - Political Ticker ^ | 2011-03-07 | Rebecca Stewart

Washington (CNN)-GOP Sen. John McCain is in need of a tech lesson. In an appearance on ABC's "This Week," the senator from Arizona said that iPads and iPhones are "built in the United States of America." But every techie knows that they are, in fact, built in China.

McCain touted free trade agreements during the interview and voiced his agreement with President Obma that "innovation is the key to us being able to restore our economy." And though the designs for the iPad and iPhone are home grown in California, the actual manufacturing takes place overseas, in China.

"I think it's obviously a recognition of the reality and the trends, that cheaper, lower-cost labor products will usually prevail over products made in higher wage and income countries," he said, while commenting the abundance of foreign-made products in the American marketplace.

GOP Sen. John McCain is in need of a tech lesson hearty, "Thank you for your service, Senator. Now, please leave."

Nice to "see" you again, rabs.
Have a great day!

She made one appearance with him, and made one radio spot.

No, she made multiple documented appearances with him, including at a rally, a fundraiser, and a food event.

She also was plastered all over his campaign Web site.

Oh, and she wrote a disgusting, sycophantic op-ed for him that was published in The Arizona Republic.

“Designed in California, Assembled in China”

Foxconn = Apple and... Hewlett-Packard, Cisco, Microsoft, Vizio, etc

If you look at the US balance of trade, deficit is 100% anout energy and consumer goods. No trade deficit in industrial supplies and intermediate and capital goods (civilian aircraft, engines, industrial machines, semiconductors, generators, etc)

Simple loyalty because Juan introduced her to a national audience and made her a household name. As I recall, she came to Arizona to campaign for him exactly once and the primary wasn't even close.

Blame the Arizona electorate, not Sarah.

Apple also = LG for their monitors.

I’ve had a 24” Apple monitor for a few years now, and it’s a solid product.

Did anyone on FR actually support McLame?

Yes. Many supported him with vigor. At one point, I thought that if I read things like "Go Johnny Mac" one more time, I was going to throw my computer through the wall.

McCain has a long, lousy record of cuddling up to Democrats, a checkered family life, and made gaff after gaff on the election trail. I don't know if he didn't want to win, or what, but a month out from the election, there were McCain campaign headquarters throughout the state which were unmanned most of the time.

I think the last straw (for me) was when he announced he was suspending his campaign to rush back to Washington to work on the bail-out. His "rush" took a couple of days and included spending a night in NYC partying with Bill Clinton and Bono.

Too many seemed willing to overlook McCain's erratic, increasingly bizarre behaviour.

Many argued vociferously in favor of supporting McCain at all costs, even before he picked Palin. If you didn't commit to supporting him, you were going to be personally responsible for putting Obama in office.

They also promised and swore that as soon as the election was over, they'd work tirelessly to ensure that in 2012, the primaries would be closed and that the "You're Next" policy of crowning the next candidate in line. If only we'd vote for McCain!

Well, it's 2011, the primaries are still open, and the next candidate is shaping up to be Mitt Romney, 'cause he's next.

I did not vote for McCain (wrote in a vote for one of the Founding Fathers). I owe my allegiance to God first and could not vote for someone with McCain's personal history and politics.

Palin was the only reason that I recall people on FR being excited about voting GOP. Juan McLame was and is a disgusting excuse for a ‘conservative’, and I’m still mad at Palin for endorsing him in the AZ primary. Sarah may never live that one down, IMO.

It is to Sarah Palin's credit that the McCain/Palin ticket got as many votes as it did. That said, I don't understand why she supported McCain in Arizona. Yes, she ran with him, but at some point, the welfare of Arizona citizens needed to come first above party loyalty. I don't want to vote for someone who engages in "payback politics" & would have preferred it if she'd have refused to endorse anyone at all.

“There needs to be an age for retirement for Senators and representative.”

I disagree on this score since it’s ultimately the responsibility of the voters to elect or not elect someone. Robert Byrd absolutely should not have reelected to his last term, but it was the will of the voters, and that’s just how democracy works.

“Senile Dementia has set in and John McCain is starting to”

I don’t think he’s senile. The guy’s not even 80, and compared to Byrd (who died at 94), he’s a mere baby.

No, I think McLame is just an idiot, and an idiot who did not deserve the presidency.

Apple used to have Sony monitors, but that was with CRTs. The last one they had was the “Apple Artist” display which was discontinued in 2008, presumably because Sony exited the CRT business and was no longer able to supply monitors.

“If you look at the US balance of trade, deficit is 100% anout energy and consumer goods.”

That is actually a very good point. The industry that’s been mostly badly destroyed is the consumer one, which is practically nonexistent now.

““( Does the GOP have to be a nursing home for senile hacks? )”

Both parties. Byrd was the most well-known case. Daniel Inouye and Frank Lautenberg are two Democrat senators in their 80s.

“Someone’s got to be the senile Republican, now that Strom Thurmond’s pushing up daisies.”

Thurmond did have the dignity to resign at the end, and on the Democrat side we see that Daniel Akaka is retiring.

In many ways, the very best Democrat in either house was not fit to change Strom Thurmond’s Depends. He was a segregationist, but an implacable foe of lynch mobs. Robert Byrd recruited klansmen, and once wrote to a high Klan official that he’d rather see the US flag trampled in the dust than permit the military to be integrated. Strom on the worst day of his life never would have said such a thing. But hey. As you say, he got senile and retired. McCain is getting worse and worse, but he’s like the Energiser Bunny with his foot in his mouth. He keeps going and going and going and going...

Thurmond was a bit loopy at the end, but the guy never became as totally messed up as Byrd. The old Klansman required a whole team of nurses to get him going in the morning and he’d sometimes become resistant and combative. Last time he showed any sign of being mentally with it was a 2003 speech condemning the Iraq War. His later speeches were pitiful to listen to.

But as I said, the West Virginia voters needed him to keep the pork flowing, even if he no longer had any clue what he was voting on. That’s unfortunate, but as I said, it’s democracy.

As for Strom, he was at least never a member of the KKK and he did acknowledge towards the end that the world had changed and that institutionalized racism was no longer acceptable.

One thing I might add is that Congress as a whole is getting older. The average age of Congressmen and Senators is 10 years above what it was in the 1950s.

Am I the only one that gets sick at looking at the same corrupt faces and hearing the same illegitimate incompetent BS for 40 years while they proclaim to each other how they sacrifice to serve the people?

By the 3rd term they are all serving themselves and their cronies at our expense.

Term limits now. It will at least limit the damage before they become too adept at scamming the system and us.

Sorry....he’s no war hero, anymore. That’s been rescinded. The country he fought for, he’s delivered to the commies on a silver platter.

When it comes down to it we've had 40 years of Congress critters and Presidents who have delivered the goods to the internationalists and commies at USA expense. China didn't invent itself. These people gave them the USA economy all wrapped up in a nice package called free trade. Even Donald Trump has said no one has ever negotiated a trade pact FOR the USA. It was always against the USA.
