Polish Shipyard Could Build French Submarines
07 March 2011
Naval Shipyard Gdynia (SMW) and French concern DCNS have signed an agreement of cooperation to develop and meet the modern requirements of domestic and foreign customers.
As per the terms of the agreement, the companies will jointly build submarines and vessels, and undertake modernisation and maintainance of Polish Naval vessels.
The transfer of new technologies between the companies could result in SMW building new French submarines and weapons for the Polish Navy.
DCNS managing director Bernard Planchais said the agreement reflected opening towards new markets.
Q. Why do Polish submarines sink all of the time?
A. Because they keep installing screen doors on them.
that should work, they put screens on the windows of theirs
Q. Why do the French have the Poles build their subs?
A. Because French subs only have reverse.
A. So they could see their surface fleet.
The torpedo tubes on all French subs face backwards, and if they don’t they’re filled with wine and cheese.
The Poles should be careful here. This sort of thing is going to give the French more economic leverage over them. Recall how ticked the French (and Germans) were over Poland being so supportive of the US in overthrowing Saddam Hussein. Next time, the Poles may not have enough independence to do so should the French tell them to say “non” and threaten economic consequences for doing otherwise.
Q: What does a prostitute in Warsaw have in common with a Polish submarine?
A: They are both full of Polish seamen...
