Ok, I’ll bite, why is the FR sign up date relevant here?
In this specific topic, Fred Grandy resigned on 3/2/11 and it’s interesting and fascinating to see that there are now about 4 people who have signed up after that date here on FR, posting stories about Fred Grandy to see if any controversial comments are made by other Freepers.
That’s all.
I had trouble with WMAL site so could not watch/listen to the podcasts so I am glad that this youtube was posted here.
It took a while to get used to no Andy but no Grandy is just too much - WMAL lost a loyal listener.

I thought it was very interesting that WMAL issued a statement that they had not fired Fred Grandy but that he resigned voluntarily.
But they did NOT say that they did not fire Mrs. Fred. A notable omission. Not quite a lie, but I think you could call it dissimulation.
I hope Fred moves back to Iowa and runs for US Senate against Harkin. Fred could come back to Clear Lake any time :)

Good observation. The head of the Virginia Anti-Sharia Task Force, Jim Lafferty, says that WMAL has actually made at least 3 different conflicting claims about how it went down, ranging from Fred’s resignation to his firing to something else the exact nature of which I can’t recall, and can’t recall if J.L. even specified what the third story even was. Of ocurse they are now publicly denying firing Fred, and denying any pressure brought to bear from any outside entity regarding program content, etc.
WMAL’s Jeff Boden actually did reply to my email. He denies any of the story that is going around. But look at these quotes attributed to Fred and Mrs. Grandy themselves, in this article:

I have been a loyal, devoted, and ardent fan of Grandy & Andy and the entire WMAL line-up here in the D.C. area for ten years. I watched the Mooozlims cause Michael Graham to be sent packing, and I suffered along with others while Chris Plante was in his recent exile.
This latest turn of events helped spur me to sign up here on FR after lurking for several years. My reasons are similar to Abby4116’s.
There has been speculation that Fred has been waiting or itching for an excuse to head back there and run for office again. I’m not the one to add to any of that scuttlebutt.
Along with the CAIR aspects, I just loathe the idea that powerful Arabs have such leverage with and ownership of our media outlets, even conservative outlets such as FOX (Saudis) and Citadel (WMAL’s parent corp.)
FoxNews is not conservative. Never has been. They’re just not as overtly liberal as the rest, which gives the illusion of looking conservative. Really, they’re not.
