For most of the last decade, my husband, Fred Grandy, has earned his living as a news/talk morning radio host in Washington, D.C. For most of the last year, he has hosted The Grandy Group, a morning drive-time show covering politics, foreign policy, and pop culture, along with the usual regional and local stories that make up any given days news.
(snip)
Then I joined the show. Under the pseudonym of Mrs. Fred, I began harmlessly enough. I would show up every Friday at 8 a.m. and talk family and domestic stuff: raising a daughter in college, road rage in the Giant Foods parking lot. But about the time we as a nation began to learn and then wonder about the motives behind the proposed Islamic Center next to Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan, I started wanting more information.
(snip)
The demand for more information eventually culminated two weeks ago in a large public forum on Capitol Hill co-hosted by the radio station, the Heritage Foundation, The Foundation for Defense of Democracies, and the Westminster Institute. Fred fielded a panel of experts on domestic terrorism who packed the house and left the audience wanting more.
Nevertheless, just a few days after the event, Fred was told to tone down the jihadist talk and make sure I did the same. I didnt. In my February 25th report on how Christians had been arrested in Dearborn, Michigan, for simply talking about their religion to Muslims, I said something that outraged our management and was dismissed.

The enemy of Americans (islam) strikes again with the help of idiot Americans
PING!
You know, I just realized something after reading that...

BS, expose the terrorists for what they are - terrorists.
Fundamentalist radicalism is so prevalent in the Muslim World.
Okay America lets deny it, forget about it and it will go away.
Dumbdown America! Muslims are our friends! BS. Look what toleration gets you, a real kick in the butt
Who owns the radio station WMAL 630AM?
When going to Detroit Michigan, I found out when buying gas. I only will purchase gas at Meijer’s Gas Station. Otherwise the attendants in many of the other gas stations are Muslims.
Dearborn is the largest Muslim Population in the Midwest. What happened in Christmas 2009 - the Underwear bomber- If he achieved blowing up the plane. Was it a call of the Muslims in Dearborn to rise up against their neighbors.
A muslim will strive to do something in the same area, until they are succesful for avenging some sense of Honor and avenging the death of someone else. Eye for an eye. No concept of forgiveness and forgetting.
WOW! Ridgerunner.. What a great catch! Sure explains some things...
A lot of those Detroit-area Muslims, especially Iraquis, are Christians.
Bottom of page one, Mrs. Fred writes: “... I said something that outraged our management and was dismissed.”
Next line:
“NEXT: What I said” (hyperlink to page two)
Next, top of page two: “Im not sure exactly what I said that they objected to, but if I had to guess...”
Well, Mrs. Fred, I’m as anti-islam as the next person, but couldn’t you have linked us to a transcript so we could all “guess? “ Because a simple “if I’m fired” cutaway line doesn’t really cut it.
To be clear, whatever nasty thing she said about islam, I agree.
I’m not sure that statement makes sense. Do you mean Middle-Easterners rather than Muslims?
Appreciate the post.
If anyone has the addresses of either WMAL’s general manager or program manager (so I can write to express my displeasure at what they have done), I’d appreciate it.
BTW, I always considered Fred as a squishy moderate.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! That’s what happened.
Just a little different than the statement WMAL put out.
If anyone has the addresses of either WMALs general manager or program manager (so I can write to express my displeasure at what they have done), Id appreciate it.

I callled and left a message, nobody bothered to call back.
BTW, I always considered Fred as a squishy moderate.
We listened to him every morning. Fred Grandy is the show, he’s very funny. When he’s not there the show really drags. I’m a solid conservative and I wouldn’t consider Fred squishy or moderate. He’s a lot like Rush, definitely represents my core beliefs. WMAL has been bumped from my preset until further notice. I’m listening to the Baltimore station, AM 680. This may be the beginning of the Fairness Doctrine. We should not let this issue die or it will bite us again.
Huh? Do you mean that a lot if the Detroit-area Iraqis are Christians?
>> Do you mean Middle-Easterners rather than Muslims? <<
I’m sure he meant to say “Arabs” because in fact, a very large percentage of the Arabs in the Detroit area are Christians — many of whose ancestors came to the USA in the early 1900’s.
(The Christians may even still be a majority of the Arabs in Michigan. I believe they were a majority at least until recent years.)
By the way, when I was growing up, my hometown (very far from Michigan) had a small community of Christian Arabs. They originally were known as “Syrians,” but after Lebanon gained independence they became known as “Lebanese.” Neither they themselves or anybody else called them “Arabs” as far as I ever knew — although the term “AY-rabb” was sometimes used to refer to them, along with Jews, Greeks and Italians, in a derogatory way.
I’ve heard Grandy on the ‘Andy and Grandy’ show a year or two ago. Several times.
I would not call Grandy a conservative. He is funny tho.
WCBM is a good radio station. It is the main one I listen to.
Since WPHT took Beck off the air, I’ve stopped listening to them.
