I am assuming the girl was also black. But let’s be honest, is there any real chance the article would admit the girl was white if that was the case? I don’t think so. The racial “overtones” would be too “upsetting” for people of color and might “spark racial tensions” among supposedlt racist white folks, blah, blah, blah.

I read one report that the girl is Hispanic - hence some of the division in the community and also the reason the police are playing down the race of the child. Black and Hispanics communities don't always get along. If the young girl is Hispanic it could spark some Black versus Brown racial problems in that area.
