These scum will get a trial with Texas picking up the entire cost. And they will most likely get long terms in prison.
I wonder how Texans would have handled this situation a 100 years ago?

I hope there’s a change of venue for this trial. With 27 or more accused in one community it may be hard to find jury members who are not connected to the defendants.

That's the way free society works. Due process and all that. I'm sort of amazed that after an eleven year old is gang raped, and investigators seem confident they've found the perps, what's on your mind is the costs of putting them on trial. I guess everyone has hobbies; are trial costs one of yours?

My grandmother tells the story that back in the 30s or 40s
a white girl was raped by an ‘Amish’, and they caught him, tied him to an old cultivater out in a field and burned him alive.
Shudder..horrible.

In a small south Texas town named Goliad, there is a large old oak tree in the town square, right next to the town offices and courthouse.
The old tree is called the hanging tree, as since the mid 1800’s as soon as the guilty verdict was written, the prisioner was marched out to the hanging tree.
Justice was served within ten minutes of a verdict!

there would have been a trial.
you think that because a crime was heinous, we are excused
from carrying out the law?
