Fortunately Japan is the home of earthquake and tsunami preparedness.

The media has been screwing up the height of the wave. Thirteen meters is 33 feet or thereabouts. One helluva wave.

Wow.
Not quite the horror of watching what happened in Indonesia, but that’s pretty frightening.
Definately 13 meters, not 13 feet. The surge just kept moving across the fields, taking out buildings, homes, that’s terrible.
Update: Just heard there’s a tsunami advisory for SoCal beach cities.

Over 42 feet. Just incredible. Based on the videos (a mass of moving water filled with burning buildings, boats, trucks, and cars with more vehicles on the roads being swept up in the tsunami’s path) the death toll will be considerable.

Tsunami arrival time (if it’s still substantial) Los Angeles area appx 8:00 am.
Wave is decreasing - currently hearing on CBS2 interview with someone in central Pacific it’s somewhere around 6 feet.
