Sheriff Baca Stumps for CAIR at Radicalization Hearing

Today’s Homeland Security hearing investigating the issue of radicalization of American Muslims was decried by the leftist media as a supreme attack on the civil rights of Muslim Americans. The most serious drama that came out of the hearing today, however, was provided by Sheriff Leroy Baca of Los Angeles County who took issue with Congressman Chip Craavack‘s concerns regarding Baca’s unequivocal support for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Sheriff Baca exhibited marked defensiveness toward CAIR when it was suggested by Congressman Craavack that CAIR might be using him to advance a pro-terrorism agenda. The exchange between Congressman Cravaack and Sheriff Baca demonstrates a disturbing and potentially dangerous error in judgment on Baca’s part.

“You are aware” that CAIR is affiliated with Hamas, Rep. Chip Cravaack (R-Minn.) said. “No I’m not aware,” Baca interrupted. “Let me bring this to your attention … I’m trying to get you to understand that they might be using you,” Cravaack said. Baca, noticeably irritated, told the congressman that he is aware of no criminal allegations have been made against CAIR.

Here's Naveed Haq, who killed one and wounded 8 in a shooting spree at The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. He gained access to the secure building by holding a gun to the head of a 12 year old daughter of a worker while she contacted the receptionist.

My wife was CFO there until a couple of years before the shooting. If she had still been working, she would have been shot. Her friend is dead.

"Prosecutors also introduced as evidence audio recordings from 10 phone calls that Haq placed to his family after his arrest. In the calls, recorded by the King County Jail, Haq told his mother he was “a soldier of Islam.”

Witnesses testified that Haq, who is of Pakistani heritage, railed against Jews and U.S.-Israeli policies as he opened fire at the federation.

On the 911 tape, Haq said he was tired of the world ignoring the Muslim point of view.

“I don’t care if I die,” Haq told the dispatcher. “This is just to make a point.”

P.S. – My brother was a co-pilot for United, and had a last minute schedule change so that he flew United Flight 93 on 9/10 instead of 9/11.

I’d just like to think Baca has a clue as to what his duty is. He’s supposed to be thinking of security, and instead he’s a spokesperson for CAIR, a terrorist’s fellow traveler.

The sheriff struck me as self-contained, cold, armor-plated, over-professional, studiously correct in everything (including politically-correct) unflappable, impenetrable and subtly self-promoting.

He is undoubtedly a good administrator in a tough job, but I wouldn't want to work for him. To me, something human was missing in him. I said to myself, I'll bet he's a California Liberal...which to me is two steps below a California Raisin. I'm sure I'm right.

As a former LA resident, I can say without any hesitancy that Lee Baca is about the dumbest person ever elected sheriff of LA County. He makes Rodney King look like a genius. How this incompetent manages to continue to hold office can only be due to LA being turned into a cesspool of illegal immigration.
