(AP) Officials at a Northern California prison believe an inmate found dead in his cell was killed by his cellmate. Officials at High Desert State Prison say the inmate was pronounced dead around 9:29 a.m. Thursday after being found unresponsive in his cell. Officials have not released the name of the inmate, but say he was serving 90 years to life on a conviction out of Riverside County for the aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Certainly no expert, but one is given to understand that “short eyes” have a very greatly reduced life expectancy in prison.

I’ve worked with many cons from half way houses.
Two groups of people the cons from the Aryan Nation to Mexican Mafia absolutely loathe:
1) Snitches
2) Rapists especially child and elderly rapists.

By micro-managing the running of penal institutions, our courts make it possible for things like this to happen. Through the law of inintended consequences, our liberal courts have reinstated a de facto death penalty.

Agreed. This is a case where a jailbird clearly has a better sense of justice than our court system.
FWIW, the only reason for sparing child molesters the death penalty was initially to protect the children from further harm-- it gave the perps a strong disincentive against murder as an attempt to cover up their rape.

Justice has been served. It’s too bad it took inmates to serve it.

Could be Shawn David Yates.
Yates raped and assaulted real estate agent, whereas the article says whoever got whacked was in for sexual battery of a child. Sentences don't quite match either; Yates had 91 years-to-life, but the dead inmate had 90 years-to-life. Of course, a lazy reporter could easily mix the two up or "simplify" 91 years to 90. Maybe we'll get lucky and Yates will end up dead in addition to this guy...

No, I think you are right. Yates attacked and tried to kill an adult female, as you say. She committed the grave error of trying to earn an honest living.
Anyway, my mistake. Thanks for the correction.

I say execute the cellmate. His, ah, “public service” to the taxpayers of California notwithstanding, he’s in prison on 64 year-to-life rape conviction. He’s no better than the POS he culled.

Well, maybe Yates will turn up in a similar news story some day. Hopefully sooner rather than later. Bastard.
It’s a real shame his victim wasn’t a concealed-carry permit holder. Then the grave error would have been him trying to harm her.

Got news for ya Chief, serving 90 years to life in a California joint is arguably worse than death..
In fact, the Californias suicide rate is nearly *double* the nationwide prison suicide rate for good reason.
The fact is, California has some of the most severe criminal penalties, including three strikes laws which is likely the reason CA major cities have substantially less crime than major cities in other states.

To: granite
While I am certainly not displeased by the results, I think that we as conservatives should never justify the means with the ends. This scum deserved a horrible death no doubt, but we should not congratulate his cell mate.
The state should have executed this dog in short order after the trial. That being said, with the left in power, they would like nothing better than to jail us conservatives for our political opinions. As such I think we should be very careful what we wish for in terms of “prison justice.”

What really makes me angry is when these bastard have a trial the jury is not allowed to see what they have done in the past..At least that is what happened with the jury I was on with a child molester..We did fine him guilty and he was given two life sentences without poss-ability of parolee..Just by looking at the guy you would not think he could do anything like this one was accused of..I was so uptight after the trial I cried and everyone saw it..Not because I was sorry but because he would never harm another child..

If convicted (posted here in FR), does this mean mass murder of the 20+ arrested in Texas recently for gang-raping a ll-year old girl and recorded the incident on their cell phones?
Hope so!

Actually his cellmate may have made a more “appropriate to the crime” style execution with a lot more perp suffering and fear.

"...In fact, the Californias suicide rate is nearly *double* the nationwide prison suicide rate for good reason...."I hawe heard anecdotal evidence from a guard at San Quentin (the uncle of my ex girlfriend) that one of the drivers of prison suicide is the rape of white prisoners by black prisoners. After the black prisoner has made the white prisoner his bitch and he grows tired of raping him, he trades him, and thus there is no hope of cessation for the white prisoner. Death becomes a good thing.
