(TheWeatherSpace.com) -- One of the most active volcanos in Indonesia has erupted, blasting lava and hot gas down the slopes.

Mount Karangetang is located on Siau, part of the Sulawesi island chain. It erupted in August, killing four people.

This mountain is along the "Ring of Fire, the volcano chain surrounding the Pacific Basin.

The eruption took place hours after the Japan 8.9-magnitude Earthquake.

At times of full and new moons, "you see a less-than-1-percent increase in earthquake activity, and a slightly higher response in volcanoes."

The peak of activity is either three days
before or three days after each.

Super moon is a full moon when the moon is closest to the earth (perigee). I think once every 29 years or so, the moon is at its very closest. So the full moon at that time would appear somewhat larger than full moons at other times.

If the big day is March 19, the moon is still pretty close to the earth in its orbit today and for the next several weeks. Its tidal effects would still be somewhat larger because of the closeness to the earth.

I seem to remember studying a modest correlation between tidal effects of the moon and earthquakes. Not sure about volcanic eruptions, though.

Yeah, I was just wondering how that was going. This from
Forbes http://blogs.forbes.com/afontevecchia/2011/03/11/oil-drops-amidst-japanese-refinery-shut-down-and-muted-day-of-rage/

On the supply side, the situation in Saudi Arabia appears subdued, with reports that protests of approximately 300 to 600 people have spurred in the towns of al-Ahsa and al-Awwamiya in the oil rich Eastern province, according to the FT.

Cool, I’ll have to check on this at spaceweather.com

All this panic. The next thing you know the Nibiru idiots will come out of the woodwork.

May be due to pole shift, maybe not. It has been moving rapidly the past few years.

The funny thing about the whole 2012 thing is that the method they used to translate the Mayan calendar was wrong and they were off by 50-100 years. Hehehehehehehehe...

I though all this talk of steaming lava, hot gas, and erupting was aboout Michael Moore. It's Indonesia? Japan and Russia too? Well that's different. Nevermind.

Supermoon again?

Although, another volcano erupting in Indonesia is hard to notice, given they have so many active ones already.

We do live in interesting times, though. What will the future bring?

Not any more. I won it fair and square when Pele went all in with a lousy pair of 4’s.

You better mail it back!

People do mail rocks back to Hawaii all the time, for some reason
