Springfield, Ill. (AP) -- Amazon.com has made good on its threat to cut ties with Illinois affiliates because of a new law requiring the online store to collect sales taxes.
Amazon notified its Illinois partners Friday that it will stop doing business with them on April 15. It calls the tax law "unconstitutional and counterproductive.

Immigration patterns:
Less than 2 dozen democrat senators go from Wisconsin to Illinois. 20,000 businesses go from Illinois to Wisconsin.

Good for Amazon — bad for Illinois. How STUPID does Illinois (and other states) have to be?!

They already moved out of Texas for the same reason

I don't blame Amazon one bit. Keeping up with the tax rates for every state, or remembering which ones tax and which ones don't, would be an accounting nightmare for the website...I wouldn't do it either.
The freaking government has regulated brick and mortar businesses to death over the years, and now they'll start on the web stores.
It's time the the democrat party's politics days were over...

A lot of people don’t know about “special sales tax districts” but cities will actually charge significantly higher sales taxes in some strip malls, etc. Large corporations have a bit of a sales tax calculation nightmare on their hands in many places. The sales tax has to be calculated on all sorts of conditions, and those calculations have to be monitored and updated as the rate changes for each of the hundreds of thousands of these areas. It costs a lot and is rolled into the prices of the products we purchase.
This is one reason that virtually EVERY non-food item I purchase is through Craigslist or Garage/estate sales.

This genius move will REDUCE tax revenue.
Say, good move afterall!

Or, you could move to Montana, Oregon or Delaware - all of which do not have a state sales tax.
Montana would love to have you.
