The horror of massive tsunami waves literally washing away scores of people, cars, buildings and, perhaps, even one of Japan's iconic bullet trains quickly turned to concern stateside Friday as residents of Hawaii and along the West Coast braced watchfully for the arrival of huge waves on U.S. shorelines.

We're thankful that . . .

Do you moonlight as a member of the Westboro Baptist Church? Or is that your day job?

The Japanese are overwhelming good people and deserve our prayers and, where possible, our assistance.

Non smarmy remarks on the shortcomings of their society.

All I am saying is that the Pedo Era of Japan needs to go the way of the Eddo Era

Judging by the number of deleted posts in the main Japan earthquake thread, it hasn’t been very successful “togetherness”.

"never waste a crisis"

I brought up some YOUTUBE videos on the tsunami alerts in Hawaii earlier today.

1. Long lines at the gas stations
2. Attendant says they would run out of gas
3. Gas 4.25 gal

Amateur random videos pick up tidbits of what the media does not report.

Just ignore Vigilanteman’s remark, GeronL: it is void of both civility and reason. That’s how people who can’t think behave.
