DAYTON — The city’s Civil Service Board and the U.S. Department of Justice have agreed on a lower passing score for the police recruit exam after it was rejected because not enough blacks passed the exam.

The city lowered both written exams a combined 15 points that resulted in 258 more people passing the exam, according to a statement released Thursday by Civil Service officials. The agreement allows the city to immediately resume its plans to hire police and firefighters.

When liberals see an inequity or an inequality, what do they do?

They do not seek to elevate those at the lower end; they seek to take those at the top, bring them down and punish them.

This reminds me of a line from the movie 1941.
“Oh my God,they gave him a gun!”

What is the point of having an exam?

Lower the bar and people will eventually reach it.

Seems like a good reason to avoid Dayton for a vacation stop over.

“The utopian schemes of leveling and a community of goods, are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the crown. These ideas are arbitrary, despotic, and, in our government unconstitutional.”
— Samuel Adams

“I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.”
— James Madison

So, is there not a video of a little white boy screaming, “That’s racist!”?

Not surprising from a place where they had layoff 11 police officers two years ago.

It is incredible how public safety doesn’t even enter the discussion; I was watching an interview with a black fireman candidate who had his results tossed along with the other (mostly-white) candidates who were at the top with him. He was understandably upset; he was treated like the “white devils” because he had studied and done very well, and now wouldn’t be hired because the list was tossed.

The soft bigotry of lowered expectations; I was in a precinct in Newark NJ and couldn’t believe the size of the fat asses on the female (all minority) officers. They would never apprehend anyone; in fact, they probably never left the building. I’d like to think that dead wood was among the many laid off by Newark’s mayor; those cuts would impact minorities worst because those jobs were closed to whites in the surrounding suburbs (due to residency requirements). At the same time, those suburbs had to open THEIR exams to Newark residents as part of an NAACP lawsuit settlement.

I like watching Newark crumble from a safe distance...the suburbs are filled with people whose parents were chased out of there after the riots.

Police powers to intentional substandard thugs sounds a bit ‘third world’.

Miami did this some years back - hired a bunch of police officers in a hurry to get grant money or some such thing... it was a disaster. Lower standards means more problems... lots more.

What Does Peter Principle Mean?
An observation that in an organizational hierarchy, every employee will rise or get promoted to his or her level of incompetence. The Peter Principle is based on the notion that employees will get promoted as long as they are competent, but at some point will fail to get promoted beyond a certain job because it has become too challenging for them. Employees rise to their level of incompetence and stay there. Over time, every position in the hierarchy will be filled by someone who is not competent enough to carry out his or her new duties.

To hope for the best: no honkies show up so 100% of the top scorers are black & Latino. Once that fails, go to plan B (and then on to plan C, etc.)

I was actually serious about my post. The lower the score, the higher the comfort zone. It decreases turnover yet you take your chances on thuggery and corruption. It is quite a pathetic approach to retainment.
