DAYTON -- The Dayton Police Department is lowering its testing standards for recruits.

It's a move required by the U.S. Department of Justice after it says not enough African-Americans passed the exam.

Dayton is in desperate need of officers to replace dozens of retirees. The hiring process was postponed for months because the D.O.J. rejected the original scores provided by the Dayton Civil Service Board, which administers the test.

Under the previous requirements, candidates had to get a 66% on part one of the exam and a 72% on part two.

The D.O.J. approved new scoring policy only requires potential police officers to get a 58% and a 63%. That's the equivalent of an ‘F’ and a ‘D’

there are those who can live with that stigma.

People who live in the dream world of liberal beliefs probably easily rationalize a little thing like being an affirmative action hire.

Really? Really? Really?

Not to sound like a bigot, but I don’t want a black person passing a police exam based on these standards. There’s a reason why these exams are designed the way they are. If black folks don’t study and prepare for the exams like other folks do, then it’s their fault for failing. We can’t start lowering the bar because a certain group isn’t getting in. I want competent police officers on the street who know what they’re doing. This is a complete disgrace by the DOJ. No one should take the DOJ seriously anymore. The people running this administration are complete morons who hang their online degrees in the office.

Now I see what happened.
The USDOJ has no local authority over law enforcement testing,
but they do have the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The hammer they hold over the states.

For years blacks have been called spear chuckers and jungle bunnies, and have
had the stereotype of the lazy, stupid "Stepin Fetchit" to overcome.

But rather than proving the world wrong,
they've managed to live up to the lowest expectations of the stereotypical cartoon negro.

It is all part of this pathetic “administration’s” philosophy that if their “people” can’t meet the standards, then it’s obviously due to racism, and they need to lower the bar so their “people” are now competitive.

If I were a self respecting black person (there have to be a few of them left) I would be terribly insulted by this.

It does appear that there may be a few:

Black applicant protests lowering police entrance exam scores
Community leaders say Justice Department’s demand is ‘a slap in the face to black people.’

DAYTON — Zachary Williams is a 21-year-old black Wayne High School grad who wants nothing more than to be a Dayton police officer or firefighter.

He’s one of 225 black applicants who took the November police entrance exam now at the center of a dispute between the city and the U.S. Department of Justice.

…………….. …………………………………..

There are roughly 650 Dayton police and firefighters and less than 40 are black in a city with 62,000 black residents. The fact a smaller percentage of blacks passed the police exam in November doesn’t help Dayton’s chances of improving those numbers.

“It doesn’t surprise me the test results aren’t different and it shouldn’t surprise anyone,” said Randy Beane, police union president. “Not enough African-Americans are taking the exam and we need to get in the schools and talk to kids about being in law enforcement. What we are doing here is the definition of insanity.”

Williams said he understands what the Justice Department is trying to accomplish, but he thinks it’s the wrong method and it’s keeping him from achieving his dream.

………………….. “…………….

Community leaders agree with Williams and said the Justice Department’s method stigmatizes blacks.

…………………..Keith Lander, chairman of the local Southern Christian Leadership Conference, said the lowering of the test score “is a slap in the face to black people……………………………
