The plan for today's article had been to point out that more than six and a half weeks have passed since Jan. 27--the date, as discussed here, on which Newsweek had said that "in the next two weeks, the White House will unveil a new gun-control effort in which it will urge Congress to strengthen current laws . . . " The idea had been to point out that the noisiest, shrillest advocates of "gun control," who have not been shy about criticizing what they seem to perceive as President Obama's disregard for their agenda, haven't really made much noise about the passing of those "two weeks," and to wonder why they have not.
Could it be that they know that "Project Gunwalker" could not have happened without White House knowledge and (at least tacit) approval, and that the only plausible motive for "Gunwalker" is as a major offensive against private gun ownership in the U.S., and they were thus inclined to cut him some slack? Even if it's looking pretty bad now, with dire effects on our diplomatic relationship with Mexico, what "gun control" group would not applaud the effort to attack gun rights, no matter the cost in lives?
So much for this writer's best laid plans, which were neatly preempted when Obama yesterday did come out with his appeal for what he calls "common sense" infringements on that which shall not be infringed. From his guest editorial in the Arizona Daily Star:
