Alas, a dimocrat against candlelight vigils....
This won't go well with the leftist fruitcakes that have elected this dimocrat.

Remember when the commies on the left were out there every day whining that Dubya was trying to take away all of their rights, freedom and liberties? I wonder what happened to them.

Now wasn’t there a rat from Nevada by the name of Harry Reid
that was complaining about the smell of the tourists in the
capitol building?
They’ve always got something to gripe about. I read an article in National Review about twenty years ago that libs
never seem to be able to appreciate the good things that they do have.
Just saying.

I read the book, but did not see the movie. I read The Abyss and then saw the movie and the movie was awful so I swore never to see a movie if I read the book OR read a book if I watched the movie.

Fire codes have already pretty much outlawed candles in all public places. Churches have usually been exempted. Anyone remember when the classic sign of an Italian restaurant was a tall candle in a wine bottle? Fire codes outlawed them. They went to hurricane candles that automatically extinguished if they tipped over, and then outlawed those.
Most apartment complexes now have a rule in their lease that there are no candles allowed. Like burning leaves during the fall and the smell of baking bread from bakeries, these things are gradually outlawed.

There are scatterings of ‘perfume’ bans around, Nova Scotia has had a perfumed shampoo and deodorant, etc. ban in place since 2000.
Here’s a ‘chemical sensitivity’ site link about some bans:
http://www.ei-resource.org/myblog/Could-a-widespread-fragrance-ban-happen-.html
Smokers have been screaming about this for years, bans like these weren’t going to stop at just smoking.
High Pigouvian taxes weren’t going to stop at smokers either.

The book was good, it was hard for me to get some of the visuals which the movie took care of.

Gee Whiz. I wonder how the Japanese are lighting their homes in the evenings these last few days since the blackouts are in force? Leave it to the Democrats to first condemn all the sources of reliable energy production, and then propose banning candle light. Why it's positively Machiavellian. Besides, it unromantic.

That is interesting and most likely true that the movie did show a more visual look at some of the scenes.

In Ireland real candles are only allowed in cathedrals. Otherwise its little electric thingies which you push after giving a donation. Sad. Not so sure about at Mass since I went to the cathedral for Mass.

Maybe the ultimate answer is to chop off the noses of everyone. A few months ago in Afghanistan the moozums had a head start on this. I remember a picture of a young woman who (apparently rightfully) had her nose chopped off. That would also help the unemployment problem...new jobs for LIBs. Kumbaya...it’s a small world after all. Multiculturalism, YES!
