U.S. businesses not buying President Obama’s rhetoric on energy ‘race’ with China

The U.S. has “raced” to control space exploration, nuclear arms and electronics. Since taking office, President Obama has introduced the idea that the U.S. is now battling China — the world’s largest polluter — in new race for world domination. A clean energy race.

“The nation that leads in the creation of a clean-energy economy will be the nation that leads the 21st-century global economy,” the president has said. Energy Secretary Steven Chu has repeated the message several times, creating a frenzy to “go green,” before China does.

If America really is in such a race, the Energy and Commerce Departments should talk.

According to Ernst & Young’s Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index, China ranks first among 30 countries on building renewable-energy infrastructure. In the fourth quarter of 2010, China invested more than $10 billion in its wind energy sector — half the total global investment of just over $20 billion. The U.S. fell from first in May to fifth in November, because of its relatively low investment.

Consulting firm Accenture said in a January report on transportation technologies, “Whoever wins the race to commercialize technology first may have unique advantages. These include intellectual property ownership and opportunities to provide jobs to their domestic population.”

Another nonsensical Presidential statement whose central element "clean-energy economy", could be replaced with "unicorn kennel" and it would be just as provable and logical.

Sadly, with the tragedy in Japan, the liberals are planning to use it to quash any further nuclear development in this country. So the goals of less dependence on foreign oil and greater production at home are slipping away.

Obama and liberals miss the forest for the trees on energy. Windmills and solar panels are great, but, they will only make a small dent in the energy needs of our country.

He’s just pressing the all the right moonbat buttons. It worked for him last time. Why not in 2012?

Barry wants $10 a gallon gas to force people onto mass transit or bicycles. Then, no one will be able to commute to work from the suburbs so they'll be forced to move closer to the cities to live in special Obama villages and so be much easier to control by Barry's personal army. Access to coal, gas and oil will be directly controlled by Barry and it will be he who decides if and when you get power. Obey, and the lights go on...disobey, and it's lights out.

You know, it’s more than passingly strange that America elects a POTUS and that person’s position on practically any issue, foreign or domestic, becomes primary with money, etc. thrown at it as if what the POTUS states is the truth of the matter. Thank God for Congress, when it works well.

WOW!
Double or triple a 1% “solution”!
(Nevermind that his envirowhacko friends continue to sue to stop Solar and Wind farms....)
This idiot stalls coal and oil growth, pretends on paper to promote nuclear, while placing it on permanent hold, and shouts Green! Green!, as though it is anymore than a wet dream.
The only possible outcome of his policies is the destruction of American business, industry, and our way of life.

Argh! Obama is right in the sense we are battling with China, but it is for Oil and precious minerals, not some happy horses*** about “clean energy”. It is like being at a race and running the wrong way. I don't know if Obama is deliberately helping China, sticking it to the evil old USA, or just and idiot who believes what he is saying. In any case, he is hurting the US!

I love freerepublic. Most people I know are apolitical or lefty. Only safe place to vent like this :D
