Rep. West gets Democratic challenger
The Hill ^ | 03/15/11 | Jordan Fabian

Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) has another Democratic challenger: a 28-year-old accountant who is making his first run for public office.

Patrick Murphy started a campaign site this week and put out a video welcome message, outlining his case for election.

"I love my country. I love South Florida, and I'm not going to stand by while right-wing extremists like Allen West continue to divide us," he said.

Murphy is considered a dark-horse candidate in the race. A handful of other Democrats are considering getting into the race against West — one of two black Republican members of Congress elected in 2010.

West, a former Army officer, rode a wave of Tea Party support to defeat Rep. Ron Klein (D-Fla.) in the midterms. He is already a top target for Democrats in the 2012 cycle.

Other potential West opponents include Palm Beach County Tax Collector Anne Gannon (D), former West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel (D) and state Rep. Joe Abruzzo (D). Klein has also not officially ruled out a bid, but he joined a law and lobbying firm this week, making a run less likely.

Patrick Daniel, another dark horse, has also filed papers to run.

West will eat him alive.

From chump to chum in the first debate. West would scare the "P" out of him...

“The rest of the potential challengers look like hack backbenchers”

Sadly, that also describes the present field of GOP challengers for Nelson’s Senate seat. Unless Allen West jumps in, that is!

West is needed more in the Senate than in the House.

Too soon for Westto talk about the presidency but just in time to take out that worthless liberal, Bill Nelson.

Now. Where could we find a truly great king?

The problem isn't finding the king. The problem is you eventually get stuck with his half-wit offspring ruling you.

Florida has some of the most gerrymandered districts in the nation.

I suspect the Governor and the legislature will redraw in a way that is pleasing for fine Congressmen like Lt. Col. Alan West.

He’s a liberal isn’t he?

Those creeps are obsessed by race and will not “allow” a black conservative with a mind of his own to be in Congress if they can help it.

Oh, I forgot someone like Bonnie Prince Charlie; however, that’s a limited monarchy with the left usually in charge.

West or no West, that part of the state is in serious need of redistricting. To call it gerrymandered is an understatement. More like a bowl of spaghetti.

Rick Scott is procrastinating about it. He made “clean” congressional districts a campaign promise and now he is acting like a standard-issue politician about it.

Arghh! These Murphys are like a game of whack-a-mole. As soon as you get rid of one or two of them, others pop back up.

Dems are going to waste time and money here West is awesome and an intelligent and straight shooter. Nelson is history whether West challenges him or not.

Maybe it’s just me, but I prefer my accountants to be so far to the right they almost fall off the face of the earth and will toil into the wee small hours of the night looking for a way to deprive the beast of every last cent of mine that they can.

I agree. That was my major. But the Dhimmis need somebody who knows how to cook the books, don’t they?

Have you seen the slate of GOP nobodies who want to run?

The only pubbie who beats Nelson in the polls is Jeb Bush and we do not need that RINO! He’ll end up following McCain around the Hill with Miss Lindsey.

Good thing Jeb says he’s not interested.

(West was not included in any of the pols)

LTC West is destined for more. Representative challenger? BRING IT ON!

honest conservative had a wonderful interview with him on her Sunday night Blogspot net radio program, Freedom Radio. Check out the podcast!

He was so relaxed, so well spoken - as he always is, and so in touch with real America! No teleprompters need apply!

He was toward the end and talked about the things he mentioned on an interview earlier on FOX.

A REAL AMERICAN! Presidential timber!

There is that, kind of like Al Qaeda encouraging people to enlist in the U. S. military for the training.

I’m sure he will be just that in a few years.

But he could use some seasoning in Congress like everybody else.

I want to see him go for the Senate because the ‘Rats will go positively berserk to keep him from taking Nelson’s seat.

Can you imagine Florida having TWO minority conservatives as senators?

And the GOP will stand to take over the majority in the Senate if they can get outstanding candidates like West to run in ‘12.

I guarantee you, the ‘Rats can’t handle the thought of it for a second! Talk about their worst nightmare!

Judging from the way they doctored up the numbers on Obamacare and their budgets, I’d say they’ve done some intense studying. Jake Guzik couldn’t do any better.

“Patrick Murphy sounds like a racist to me.”

B-b-but how can that be, when the reporter called him a “dark horse”? Ooooh, the REPORTER is racist! ah-HAH!

Colonel, USAFR
