Japan radiation leaking "directly" into air: IAEA
Reuters ^ | 3/15/2011 | Fredrik Dahl

Japan has told the U.N. nuclear watchdog radioactivity was being released "directly" into the atmosphere from the site of an earthquake-stricken reactor and that it had put out a fire at a spent fuel storage pond there.

I assume that most people understand the vernacular being used by the MSM regarding all the nuclear powerplant news = massive mushroom clouds spreading fallout around the world in hours.

I’m still waiting on someone to show me how a nuke powerplant failure could contaminate the whole world killing thousands/millions around the world, without a nuclear sized blast. Yet the MSM keeps doom-mongering that “radiation released in the air” is going to somehow kill millions in the mid-west.

It’s now impossible to know what’s going on there. Every 5 minutes there’s a conflicting report. I’m resigned to hoping and waiting now...and praying.

I am not one to panic, especially if there is nothing I can do about it;)

Does tuna saturate the thyroid too? hmmm, well if so, then expect tuna to spike too.

Tuna fish purifies drinking water?

Are you two thinking that you're talking about the same thing?

There is already a defect in Reactor 2. TEPCO won’t say what or how bad.

Well it’s on Top of the Drudge Report. What’s Mr. MIT expertise in since he is saying what you want to hear.

But of course, Matt Drudge is not offering expert authoritative advice either, he's also just reposting other anonymously written headlines in order to grab clicks.

"Radiation 'directly' into the atmosphere" meaning what?

If you posted a report that someone in Oregon was spewing water "directly into the air" with a water sprinkler, must I automatically assume it's a flood threat to Texas?

I don’t know. I’m talking about is people are starting to make a run on iodine pills for radiation.

Do the reporters not know or do they intentionally make these stories confusing?

The IAEA said it had been informed "that the spent fuel storage pond at the Unit 4 reactor of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is on fire and radioactivity is being released directly into the atmosphere."

Japan has told the U.N. nuclear watchdog radioactivity was being released "directly" into the atmosphere from the site of an earthquake-stricken reactor and that it had put out a fire at a spent fuel storage pond there.

Is the fire out? A new fire? Is radiation leaking from the spent fuel storage now or was that before? Where is radiation now leaking from?

No, the tuna doesn’t saturate the thyroid. But supposedly, the amount of iodine in the tuna (or kelp or shellfish) is sufficient.

It means radioactive particles (alpha, beta, gamma emitters) have been released to the atmosphere. No one is suggesting people in Texas panic. But if I were in Japan I would take all necessary precautions for my family no matter what some MIT “academic” says. Everybody pings on the media, but “academics” aren’t much better..........OBAMA is an “academic” for Heavan’s sake.

I'm gonna sing the Doom song.
But seriously if you are 8 km away from the plant this is big time serious bad news. If you are 8,000 km away in Los Angeles not so much

Radiation falls at Japanese plant
15 March 2011 Last updated at 14:59 ET

Radiation levels have fallen at Japan’s earthquake-stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, the government says.

The levels had spiked to harmful levels after a fire and two more explosions at the site.

Weather reports say winds are blowing radiation from the plant, on Japan’s north-east coast, over the Pacific.

...Radiation levels in the Japanese capital - 250km away - were reported to be higher than normal earlier on Tuesday before falling. Officials said there were no health dangers.
