it won’t impact the illegals.......the lawyers will not win anything from them...our daughter was hit in CA by an illegal....OUR insurance had to pay, as the cop let him drive off after rear ending her....he had no license or insurance....and he drove off on his way leaving behind a phony id...typical.

I’m questioning what exactly the law says to do with the vehicles...and I’m guessing that the cops had a protocol in place...and not a law. Typically, an abandoned vehicle must be taken by a tow truck but it is left to the cops to determine what is abandoned.

I lived outside of the US for fifteen years and only returned in the last year, and am quiet amazed at this towing scheme and the costs involved. My question...because I think it’s mostly a rip-off...what don’t charity operations start up their own towing operations (for $49 instead of the $139 typically charged), and get into the racket? I think most folks will agree that towing is now a comical affair and way over the fair price situation.

I’ve used a tow in the midwest and in North-East FL in the last year and paid ~$50.

Of course, I think you are also talking about impound fees, and that is a different deal.

To my thinking, anyone who is driving without a license (without one issued, not just forgot it at home) should have the vehicle they are in at the time impounded. They can’t drive it away. There should not be a tow kickback to the police.

California should quit the kubuki dance, raise the Mexican flag over Sacramento already and save us all the trouble of doing it in the future. Mexico already has controlling authority over it anyway.

No, "gun" this: It's a racket.

With control but no sovereignty, they don't have responsibility -- instead, they have deniability, and the white guy (Ahnuld, or Moonbeam) is stuck with responsibility.

It's a screwoff's paradise.
