Why do you think it retired in the first place? Maybe something like a disability or I wonder if the department may have made a recommendation? To me, a retired officer is a regular citizen. Do they have experience? Yes, but no longer arrest powers. IMHO

Well, the messed up part is that even though this LEO was retired, at least in NY and NJ, they still get to carry unrestricted, and are exempt from any NFA laws as long as their on this side of the earth. I often get into “discussions” with my family from LI about concealed carry. The concept is completely foreign to them, unless “you’re a cop, and if you aren’t, you have no business doing so.” They look all perplexed at me when I tell them that one’s occupation has no bearing on them being able to exercise theiry Second Amendment RIGHTS!
