Probably the best thing for them to do is go into their safe room for the duration

LMAO!!!!

Yoo bad the media nuke 'experts' can't find one themselves -one with rubber walls.

This 'coverage' reminds me a little bit of the coverage in the 80's during the Nicaragua crisis when the media all became experts in all things Nicaragua even going so far as to pronounce Nicaragua like native Nicaraguans -- nih-kuh-RAH-gwuh!

It was especially humorous when they pronounced the combo (a twofer) Managua, Nicaragua -- ma-ˈNAH-gwuh, nih-kuh-RAH-gwuh!!

LOL

Well hey, the 'experts' on all media, including FOX (Shep & Geraldo - ugh!) - are all in typical over-reaction over the reactors mode. I'm with Red Badger, listen to the guys on the ground there. They seem to think they can make things better soon. 'Panic-mongering' (thanks Moose4) is what we're getting - and I expect we're going to see A LOT MORE!

Wanted to post a bit of sense found elsewhere - relevant to the explosions (hydrogen) and the steam seen coming from the reactors. Here is, from 'Richard Flores':

As a REAL engineer, I am disgusted the the false information that is being provided by the media! The radiation that is coming from the reactors is tritium from the oxidation of the zirconium. (When the zirconium oxidizes, the coolant water is disassociated. The oxygen in the water combines with the zirconium, and the hydrogen is released in gaseous form. Tritium is a low-energy beta emitter NOT dangerous in comparison to gamma or neutron emitters) with an 8-day half life. It decays into helium, which is inert and non-hazardous!!! It easily disperses with roughly a 1/R^3 dispersion rate. (So, the concentration is minuscule at a very short distance!) Given the fact that the release amounts are tiny, there is NO danger to public health off site.

Now, the radiation that is being detected by the Navy is probably from the refinery or other fires, because it appears to be alpha radiation, which could NOT be coming from the reactors. (Alpha radiation typically comes from the decay of TRU elements, which are found in oil and other fossil fuels as well as plastics and other contents of the rubble that were burning!)

If you do the calculation, the potential amount the could reach the USA under worse case conditions is FAR LESS than the dose that you get from drinking a glass of milk!

NOT ONE person was injured from the TMI incident. (Per the Presidential report on TMI, the ONLY danger to public health was the stress caused by "fallacious" (FALSE) news reports!!! Shame on you once again!!!)

That is all true, except for the one reactor there that has plutonium in it. THAT is the one I'm most interested in, and keeping an eye on. But, I fully expect (and fervently hope) to see that they find a way to keep that one cooled down very soon.

This mass hysteria is so over blown. More people died in Ted Kennedy’s car during his extramarital affair with Mary Jo than 3 mile island. No one will die over these fuel rods. The Tsunami was horrendous but I am so bored with the Nuke hysteria. Fox is the worst.

Sorry ... Japan Tv - their gov’t experts and/or academicians already reported that gamma is being emitted.

Why spread misinformation? The chart shows exactly the opposite of what you say ... look at the dates and times at top of each column.

I have written of this more than once on FR: Japan’s troubles began some twenty years ago when their real estate bubble crashed, putting their economy into a holding pattern with no growth.

That coincided with the last efforts of WWII Korean “comfort women” to obtain an acknowledgement and apology, and reparations for the rapes and atrocities commited against them in Korea.

Also at that time, the Chinese sought the same for the Rape of Nanking.

I have felt since then that that was a pivot time for the Japanese to repent and take responsibility for what they had done, like the Germans have done with regard to Jews and the State of Israel.

I do believe that God judges nations.

Japan is not the only one under judgement....I pray we are not among the “goat” nations, that there are enough righteous here for God to restrain what we are deserving of in many ways.

Roger. Copy that.

Why are you bandying about graphics which you can NOT vett in any way whatsoever on a discussion thread that is vehemently anti-nuke?

It would seem to me that your ideology is one of obfuscation instead of exposition of Truth? Do you remember Dan Rather and what he said about the responsibilities of a journalist?

Lets not come unglued here.

There were recent studies performed by students at a college concluding that 80% of all shopping carts were contaminated w/fecal material.

I don't know 'bout you: but if 80% of the population sticks its fingers in its ass before going shopping, we have some issues.

Yes, I hope we are not...but I fear for our country as so much evil happens daily here.

Yes; all of that.

(Apparently, fellow Freeper on Post 58 takes great exception to my post.)

I am very worried about America’s future as a result of God’s judgement. Was listening to a sermon on radio (BBN Network) dealing with eschatology. The minister said he’s been asked about how America is addressed and referenced in the Bible’s teachings on end times. He said that there’s a good chance America isn’t addressed; that perhaps by that time America will be either (1) insignificant because it had ruined itself, or (2) non-existent.
