"We've said here before that the Republican cast of presidential characters for 2012 isn't very exciting. The GOP, we've said, may have to reach down to the next generation to find a candidate who can wake things up, and we've suggested Marco Rubio, the new senator from Florida.
Now, Rubio may be making his move. From The Politico:
With a landmark spending debate engulfing Washington, the Florida Republican has, virtually overnight, launched the national profile the conservative movement has been clamoring for.
During his first national interview Monday, Rubio pounced on President Barack Obama — from the friendly confines of Laura Ingraham’s conservative radio show. He blasted a statement to the media, pledging to vote against the Republicans’ short-term spending resolution and calling it a “nickle-and-dime” approach. And he’s vowed to vote against everything that comes through the Senate unless it deals with addressing the $14 trillion debt crisis. ...snip... “Marco Rubio says, ‘What is this continuing resolution crap? I didn’t come in here to fund the government every two to three weeks, and $6 billion here and $6 billion there. What the hell is going on here?’”

I agree....and though I would normally agree with the standard wisdom regarding this....these times call for bolder actions. I am becoming more convinced of this.
Rubio would be ideal as V.P. as he blows Joe (the drunk) Biden away.
His lack of experience is a handicap for the top position.

That’s nice. So was Gov. Bobby Jindal.
But Jindal’s parents were still citizens of India when he was born here. Were Marco Rubio’s parents U.S. citzens when he was born?
If not then he is no more eligible to be President than is the governor of Louisiana.
A natural born citizen is born here to citizen parents. Representatives and Senators only need be a citizen to serve in Congress - native born, citizen-by-statute, or naturalized. Only the President must be native born AND have both parents who are citizens.
Well....sticking with the semi-alliteration, I'd suppose I would be compelled to say:

I’m worried about the same things that got us into this mess in the first place. Inexperience. It’s not the best thing to have inexperience and conservative principles. They can make just as many mistakes. As for comparing Rubio to Obama, sure he’s better. But Obama should not be the measuring stick that we conservatives measure for Presidential timber. It should be Reagan.
This is something that should be fairly easy to find out. However, it is highly probable that his parents became US citizens, since special provisions eased the citizenship process for emigres from Cuba at that time in our history.

I’d nominate my dog if he would run for president...as long as his head was straight when it came to the job.
You may have had a problem with Obama’s experience, I didn’t. He was Marxist from his college days (and probably before) - that is what bothered me. If he had another 10 years under his belt, he would just be more of a Marxist.

Agree, but some people, even if well-intention, simply CANNOT comprehend the mess we’re in. I’d be surprised if we even make it to 2012 before the dollar collapses. Rubio seems to understand that...I’m not sure too many other Republicans candidates (the ones that aren’t fruitcakes, that is) understand the situation.
Marco Rubio would be unbeatable.
Amen!! Obama’s Marxist ideology and his unprecedented support for abortion are what REALLY concerned me.
It’s also been proven that he doesn’t follow the advice of many of those *experts* available to him. Those he listens to are of the same radical bent as he is.
I KNOW Rubio would be totally different in this regard.

We have more than enough opportunists in government already. If I can't trust him to do what he said he do and represent his constituents for the length of his term, then how could I trust anything he says?

One of Obummers problem has been his total lack of experience as an executive.
Course another is that he is an American hating marxist.
Then John McCain was ineligible to be president because he was born at the Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal Zone.
The rub with Obama is not so much that his father was a citizen of Kenya, but that Obama may have been born IN Kenya, not in HI.
All but the most avid conspiracy birthers would slink away if it could be proven beyond a doubt that Obama was born in HI.
Without a doubt, Rubio was born on U.S. soil. There should be no question he OR Jindal is eligible to be President. They are.
Exactly, it’s not even close.
...but I also suspect that there are people in our party that are worried about Rubio - especially if he is the only one making sense.
