Can the 'Fix Gun Checks Act' prevent violence? Can it respect liberty?
St. Louis Gun Rights Examiner ^ | March 17th, 2011 | Kurt Hofmann

The more one looks at President Obama's guest editorial in the Arizona Daily Star (as we did here Monday), and Senator Chuck Schumer's (D-NY) S. 436, the "Fix Gun Checks Act of 2011,", the more apparent it becomes that Obama's editorial was tailor-made to drum up public support for S. 436. .....Snip... It's as if Obama read through S. 436, and extracted every talking point that could be applied to the alleged shooter. The forcible citizen disarmament lobby is no doubt unhappy that Loughner didn't make his firearm purchase at a gun show, thus leaving Obama with no hook for the "gun show loophole" language in the bill. ..snip.. Enormously expanding the intrusiveness of the background check system is what the Huffington Post's Sam Stein describes as "low-hanging fruit" for the gun prohibitionist lobby, with their beloved magazine ban probably out of reach. Look, then, for the "fix the broke gun check system" (the same gun check system the Brady Campaign is so proud of) rhetoric we have been hearing all week to continue and intensify.

Does anyone find it curious that the forcible citizen disarmament lobby is suddenly clamoring for the outlawing of the private sales of guns?

It has been a few weeks since the shooting in Tucson, so why are they drumming up this issue now?

Think about the fact that we have two world events that exemplify why someone would need firearms.

Libya shows us that sometimes guns are necessary to resist tyranny and the disaster in Japan shows us that there are sometimes when you need to fend for your family.

Are the gun grabbers tone deaf that these world events show people why they need to be armed? This could be it, because they do not seem to have a clue as to why a free-people would like to be able to defend themselves.

But the timing is very suspect here.

Why do they need this issue to be in the forefront right now?

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

We will not discuss gun control with these criminals until the President comes clean on Project Gunwalker!

The President is guilty of negligent homocide via his BATFE!

Very good question. Even more reason to get some more ammo. Haha.

Everyone needs to be reminded...

If this DEMOCRAT sheriff had DONE HIS JOB and acted upon Loughners previously documented death threats...loughner wouldnt have been able to pass a backround check.
