"Hollywood remake of Red Dawn spends $1m to change villains from Chinese to North Koreans... so as not to offend Beijing"
Hollywood film-makers have changed the villains in a re-make of the film Red Dawn to avoid offending China and spoiling its chances of success at the box office.
The original action film starring Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen featured Russian troops invading America.
In the remake Chinese troops lead the invasion - but bosses at MGM studio are to spend more than $1 million on digital special effects to make it appear the invaders are from North Korea.

Hollywierd is so pathetic.
They could make a movie about terror cells attacking
malls in the mid west and everday american families
using ingenuity and individual heroism to survive,
grieve for their losses, then wreak cold havoc on
the terrorists.......but nooooooo.

They could change the bad guys to French-Canadiens and the movie would still bite the big one.
Granted, the original was no Academy Award winner. But it was, at least, a lot of fun. This remake is just going to be awful.
Speaking of awful remakes, Tony Scott’s remake of The Warriors is set to come out either this summer or next. Supposedly it will be set in Los Angeles instead of NYC, and used real LA gang members as extras. Oh, goody! /sarc.

If they make those changes, it will guarantee that I will never see that movie.
Whether science fiction, fantasy, or action-adventure, there must be at least a trace of credibility to the plot.
Chinese, Russians, Arabs, Mexicans, The Duchy of Fenwick, Space Aliens invading the USA, I can believe. The North Koreans can't even feed themselves much less pull off an invasion of the United States.

Hey the Chinese don’t have to invade to take over the country. All they gotta do is cash out their treasuries.

Ahhh... thanks for the clarification.
I think maybe a more believable one - the Mexican army.... But instead of dropping, in, they just swarm in-mass across the border...

Just saw your post. I think you're on to something that might save the film.
Simply package it not as a remake of "Red Dawn" but as an updated version of "The Mouse that Roared".
