Democrats a Roadblock to Fiscal Responsibility

Passing the federal budget is perhaps the most important task the Congress has each year. It has failed miserably.

The federal fiscal year begins Oct. 1. Theoretically, a budget should be signed into law no later than Sept. 30. Here it is March and still no budget. The Congress just passed its sixth continuing resolution, this time to keep the government operating through April 8.

This is inexcusable.

President Barack Obama submitted his 2011 budget proposal in February 2010. That gave the Democratic Congress nearly eight months to debate and pass the budget. Yet, even with a Democratic Congress and a Democratic president, the budget never passed and now the 112th Congress has to finish the job the 111th Congress, one of the worst in recent history, failed to do.

To put it in perspective, Obama submitted his 2012 budget proposal last month while the Congress is still debating the 2011 budget proposal.

No wonder we are financially bankrupt with $14.16 trillion in debt.

Fortunately, now that Republicans control the House of Representatives, there appears to be at least some movement in the right direction, though not enough for my tastes.

I know that Republicans are trying, but they’re far from omnipotent. How much longer can this go on?

>>>I know that Republicans are trying, but they’re far from omnipotent. How much longer can this go on?<<<

Please allow me to disagree.

The Republicans aren’t trying. They’ve proposed next to nothing in terms of real cuts, and nothing in terms of reining in entitlement spending. They’re spent no time on outreach, advertising, promotion, or speaking engagements dedicated to the ideas of limited government and a return to actually following Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. Nothing. They aren’t going on Oprah and Leno and Letterman and the View educating people about their position. They’re not writing blogs and publishing papers. They’re not creating videos to go viral, not producing films that tell a story, not singing songs that have a message. No billboards. No community activism among like-minded conservatives. No attempts to shut down the left and agitate for real, substantive change. Nothing.

How much longer can this go on? I don’t know. How much money and property ya got?

I know DC is suppose to mean District of Columbia.
It’s become rather obvious that it means

District of Criminals

The Democrat's position was to raise taxes and proposed to let the Bush tax cuts expire.

The Republicans opposed and won out. The Republicans want to cut spending.

Please, propose the significant cuts required to balance the budget and quit whining about the Democrats. They are not on your side and support a completely different approach.
