Everything from taking away computers to denying a year of service in the state retirement system was considered to punish the 14 Wisconsin Senate Democrats who fled to Illinois for three weeks to block passage of a bill taking away union bargaining rights, newly released emails show.
Members of Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald's staff bounced ideas off one another and the Legislature's attorneys for days about how to pressure the Democrats to return and penalize them, according to records released Wednesday by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

I don’t see anything unreasonable in those e-mails. All I see is frustration and attempts to figure out what will get them to come back. There is no ticking time-bomb here.

What they should do is keep them in contempt so they can’t vote on ANYTHING.
I doubt it. Many of us are mad that the AWOL-14 aren’t being punishes. We would have applauded stronger penalties.

Hell, for the conservatives they are happy to see it. At least we know they were thinking along the same lines we are.
Personally I think they should introduce a Constitutional Amendment stating that any Representative/Senator who flees the state in order to avoid a vote and is gone for more than 1 week has abandoned his district. His seat is declared vacant and the Governor names a replacement.
