In ‘08, I would have laughed at the concept.
Today, I spent about an hour chatting online with a conservative friend of mine, and we are both saying “yup...we could vote for Trump.”
If he’s serious (which is admittedly hard to tell, he is definitely capable of just a publicity stunt), he can win it all.
Just shows what a pitiful situation we're in. Read Trump's bio--his specialty is bankruptcy. He goes bankrupt every few years. I figure he's the perfect guy for America right now. If anyone can handle the US going belly up, it's Trump.
Much would depend on whom Trump picked to staff his administration. An executive like him knows that he cannot possibly oversee his whole empire personally and needs trustworthy subordinates. Nothing would stop him from picking Sarah Palin as a veep, and this time around Trump (unlike John McCain) would let out enough chain to allow Palin to chew up Obama eight ways from Sunday. And he might latch onto other notable GOP firebrands like Bachmann, DeMint, and Herman Cain if Sarah Palin has his ear. And why not John McCain for D.C. dogcatcher, as a consolation prize.
Then your friends need to look a little deeper into Trumps background. He’s no conservative and I am now beginning to think he is a Democrat plant.
I agree with you on Trump.
The more “straight-talk” he gives to the American public, the more he’s going to catch on. I think he contrasts extremely well versus Obama. With Trump you get the feeling that he will be able to run rings around Barry in a debate and the American public will eat it up.
I’m hoping Trump runs. These are unconventional times. We need an unconventional President.
He could and I hope he will serve as a sort of Greek Chorus during the process, standing on the edges and calling out that the Emperor has no clothes.
