That was a loaded question from a liberal prof. I would’ve vocally set the jerk straight for setting up such a choice. For starters, Birmingham isn’t a “vacation destination.” I live, what, 2 1/2 hours or so north of it and have never spent any time there (save for the time it took to drive past on I-65 heading to the Gulf or returning via Texas). There’s very little to do there. Toronto is the NYC of Canada, and hence there are many things to do there.
I think a better choice of options would’ve been whether the class would prefer Myrtle Beach vs. Detroit. I’d ask the prof which HE would prefer. If he said “Myrtle Beach”, I’d denouce him as a reactionary right-winger racist for not appreciating the myriad of activities to do in Detroit.
I can't say I remember much about Toronto, since I was there ~30 years ago, but “tourist wise”, I'm sure it has more to offer.
Oh, the prof. said he would rather go to Toronto. I'd enjoy seeing his reaction to your Myrtle Beach vs. Detroit question.
Hey, if this guy got his jollies off of tossing hand grenades at barely legal adults, it just shows a liberal MO. I'm sure he's enjoying his monthly, tax-free retirement check, most likely while living in another, low-cost state - that's another MO of the MAssholechusetts lib - take the money and run to where the taxes aren't.
