They are called the Amazon Warriors, the Lady Hawks, the Valkyries, the Durgas.
There is something positively mythological about a group of strong women swooping down to shake the president out of his delicate sensibilities and show him the way to war. And there is something positively predictable about guys in the White House pushing back against that story line for fear it makes the president look henpecked.
It is not yet clear if the Valkyries will get the credit or the blame on Libya. But everyone is fascinated with the gender flip: the reluctant men — the generals, the secretary of defense, top male White House national security advisers — outmuscled by the fierce women around President Obama urging him to man up against the crazy Qaddafi.
How odd to see the diplomats as hawks and the military as doves...

INTERESTING how the left-wing scumbags in the NYTIMES refer to these as “Valkyries”. Harpies makes more sense, PARTICULARLY as liberals use even WORSE perjoratives towards CONSERVATIVE women like Bachman, Palin, Coulter, Malkin, Ingraham, Malkin, etc.
I would think any decent daughter of Odin would be angered at being compared with Obama’s political Harem.
Old, left/liberal chicks don’t like high fuel prices, so they’ll side up with whoever they believe will win over there.

And Dowd is wrong when she suddenly views “the military as doves.” The military in this country always hesitates before marching off to war because they know whose blood is going to be spilled. It’s not a game to them.

Well the Valkries were the war maidens that came down from Valhalla to take the bravest slain warriors to Heaven, so her analogy is off the mark because none of the Obumble people are brave. Especially him.

I don’t know. Valkyrie means “Chooser of the Slain”, the daughters of Odin who flew over battlefields to rescue the souls of the bravest of the fallen and take them back to Valhalla for an existence of fighting and feasting until Ragnarok when they would assist the Gods against the Giants, the Fenris Wolf, Mitgard Serpent and assorted other demons.
I always pictured them as beautiful with long blonde or red hair, blue eyes and fair skin, dressed as vikings and riding on flying horses. (Sorry for the ethnic stereotypes -but they fit)
Not the sort of people one would suspect of consorting with liberals, enve liberals who think they are masculine.
The proof is on the battlefield.
