It might have been expected that the death of movie star and AIDS activist Elizabeth Taylor might be an occasion for liberal sniping. Unsurprisingly, it came from Joy Behar on her CNN Headline News show Wednesday night, recirculating the complete myth that Ronald Reagan didn't care about AIDS, and couldn't utter the name of the disease for years:
BEHAR: She didn't like Ronald Reagan's politics. She knew the Reagans and she was friends with them, I think, but she didn't like his politics. And here is the reason, I think, because as the AIDS crisis began in 1981, and Reagan couldn't even say the word "AIDS" until 1987, after 40,000 people had died from the disease. Do you think that possibly, either one of you, do you think that possibly Elizabeth forced his hand to actually speak about it eventually? Did she have anything to do with that, Barry?
MANILOW: Could be. Could be. Like I say, she was on a mission. I don't think anything was going to stop her.
BEHAR: Yes. What do you think, Kenneth?
COLE: I know that he must have -- at a certain point, he felt he needed to address this publicly, and the sentiment was changing. And the at-risk community was growing significantly larger. But AmFAR [the American Foundation for AIDS Research] was formed in '85, and it was the coming together of the National AIDS Research Foundation, which was started by Elizabeth in Los Angeles, and Mathilde Krim had the AIDS Medical Foundation in New York, came together and formed AmFAR in 1985. And it becomes very public, very vocal. And then '87, actually, at an AMFAR event, Ronald Reagan talks about AIDS for the first time.

Her ears will be burning. Not from us, but because of that whole Hell thing. Sorry Joy.
Joy Bore-Whore lies when ever she opens her mouth
Joy Bore-Whore lies when ever she opens her mouth
All you need to know:
“Joy Behar Lies...”
I actually saw this fat evil troll in a really bad movie over the weekend, “Hall Pass.”
Ahhh! The left. Still being true to form.
Standing on corpses to push an agenda.
Reagan began the funding for AIDS research, that, although money well spent in terms of gaining knowledge of retrovirus - has been the #1 funded disease in terms of dollars per deaths attributable.
But apparently NO AMOUNT is enough if you can characterize it as low to paint a good and decent man as a hate filled homophobe.
And the at-risk community was growing significantly larger. No, the fabricated claim was being made that the at-risk community was growing. The number of gay men and IV drug users wasn't growing all that fast, if at all.
Whatever happened to that heterosexual AIDS epidemic that was supposed to have afflicted millions upon millions of straight people over a decade ago?

The “Reagan Caused AIDS!!” lie, as the cause of the “Great Gay Death” is why most in the major media are so vehemently opposed to Republicans today. Not the risk of the lifestyle, not the needles, but REAGAN.
It says a lot about how powerful propaganda is.
The HATE for Reagan, and extended to any Republican, just drips from these people’s mouths, and it has for a long time.
Like Joan River’s calling Reagan a bastard on the “Apprentice” a couple of years ago, blaming HIM for the AIDS deaths of so many friends during the Great Death.
As long as they can blame REAGAN for it, they don’t have to admit that the gay/bi/transgendered lifestyles can kill them, or that THEY aren’t responsible for the “Holocaust of the Hemopheliacs”, caused by AIDS tainted blood in the supply of HM drugs.
(I lost TWO very good friends to this alone.)
You get or prevent Aids the same way you get or prevent herpes, the clap and syphilis and you prevent Aids the same way...so no bare-backing there cowboy ...
Joy’s head is where her ass should be.
Please Ms. Behar, tell us. How exactly did Reagan contribute to the AIDS crisis?
Did he frequent bathhouses in San Francisco? Did he have sex with eight men a night? Did he lead a depraved, promiscuous, sick lifestyle and blame all his problems on other people?
Joy is a nasty woman. So many liberals are...
