Media Matters plots “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” against Fox?
Hot Air ^ | 26 Mar 2011 | Ed Morrissey

Media criticism has been the bread and butter of the blogosphere from its opening days, especially for conservatives who pushed back against the liberal bias of the mainstream media. The scope of those efforts have run the gamut from fact-checking news pieces to exposing biases of top-ranking executives, such as Eason Jordan at CNN. Media Matters for America was formed as a left-wing analog to the more grassroots efforts in the conservative blogosphere to push back against the pushback and to focus criticism on conservative news and opinion outlets, including Hot Air on more than one occasion.

All of this is perfectly fair game. Media critique is a game anyone can play, and it’s hard to argue that this kind of accountability is somehow bad for business. But is it legitimate to declare that these efforts will consist of “sabotage” and “guerilla warfare”?

The liberal group Media Matters has quietly transformed itself in preparation for what its founder, David Brock, described in an interview as an all-out campaign of “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” aimed at the Fox News Channel.

The group, launched as a more traditional media critic, has all but abandoned its monitoring of newspapers and other television networks and is narrowing its focus to Fox and a handful of conservative websites, which its leaders view as a political organizations and the “nerve center” of the conservative movement. The shift reflects the centrality of the cable channel to the contemporary conservative movement, as well as the loathing it inspires among liberals — not least among the donors who fund Media Matters’ staff of about 90, who are arrayed in neat rows in a giant war room above Massachusetts Avenue.

“The strategy that we had had toward Fox was basically a strategy of containment,” said Brock, Media Matters’ chairman and founder and a former conservative journalist, adding that the group’s main aim had been to challenge the factual claims of the channel and to attempt to prevent them from reaching the mainstream media.

The new strategy, he said, is a “war on Fox.”...Libs are getting desperate.

Dig deep Freepers; There’s lots of ugliness in Media Matters to be found and put out in public.

This focusing on Fox happened after a large infusion of money into Media Matters by Soros. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/10/20/soros-donates-1-million-to-media-matters/

Damn Nazis. They can’t allow the truth to be told by FOX. FOX is screwing up all the work being done by their NAZI propaganda machine.

Too many people realize the only place to get “news” is from Fox News. The Beck, Hannity, O’Reilly, Van Sustern, etc. are outstanding programs. The Liberals can’t continue with the “brain washing” with Fox telling the truth. Go Fox. . .

Sounds like they are WAY too late to the party. The only thing they can hope to do is plant a few moles in FOX, have them do some seriously bad journalistic malpractice and then amplify it.

MM vastly overestimates it’s power to do - anything - vs. Fox.

Media Matters doesn’t matter.

Start harassing them via the IRS. Start complaining that they are in violation of their 501(C)3 status.

If they get enough complaints they will have to do something...even if it is to warn Media Matters to change its status before they move forward with their plan.

It seems to me that from putting money in local elections of judges, state elections of judges and the sec. of state positions around the country, to funding horrific caused that tear down our system of law, soros is a terrible thorn in this nation's side.

Just imagine if he had used his billions for the good. Like demanding and funding the high school courses in good spending and saving habits, foundations that support worthy charities and on and on.

What a shame. To see this man who has become a monster and the enemy of America and the American dream seated up front at all of uhbama's presidential campaign debates...probably marking every socialist comment he made with a great big donation to the dem party as a reward was so sick and telling.

The sad reports of his oval office visits...geeez...ya wonder if he and uhbama and that cabal are behind this Fox assault.

Soros is a sick man.

And that media matters and PBS and NPR take his cash along with moveon.org and media matters, says it all.

Fox News Cable is a bump on his road to destroying us.

Maybe we should focus on exposing this man's history, making it viral and shaming everyone who has ever taken a dime of his dirty money.

Liberals will get in bed with anyone who has the money. Soros is proof.

I imagine Juan Williams, a recent Fox acquisition from National Proletarian Radio, might be a candidate for mole, but there are several problem with moles.

1. They are uncontrolled. They live in enemy territory.
2. They are unprotected. They live in enemy territory.
3. They can be secret only so long as they are not activated.
4. they can be activated, but then they are no longer secret.

Sounds like they should change their name to “Fox Matters”, since they only seem to concentrate on that network.
