I think you're probably right. Any "flashpoint" of "old America" you see will end up more like Waco.

Disagree. It could be the Lexington & Concord moment that is likely coming.

Anyway, the only true revolt possible when the moochers overtake the makers will be "Atlas Shrugging."

Disagree. That is one option, not the only.

If we have passed the point of no return, then there can be no Alamos that lead to a San Jacinto victory.

Disagree. If we have passed the "point of no return," (whatever that means) numerous options might be on the table.

So to the extent guns can be used to protect your family while the looters loot, that's about it.

Disagree.

Turning directly to a Constitutional Restoration movement as in Mexican Texas I just don't think can work in the modern age...in other words, I don' think we'd see much better results than the thugocracies that filled the voids in Afghanistan, Iraq, "Palestine," Egypt, Libya etc..

Disagree. We are not those countries.

Don't forget the key factor in any revolution: the side that the Army is on always wins. The regime thugs will melt away like snow on a June beach whern Army boots and heavy metal hit the scene.

History tells us that when the SHTF the Army doesn't always support the government. It bears remembering...and cultivating.

We would like to revert back to the moral, erudite foundations of the forefathers, but it may no longer be possible in the ignorant, slovenly, amoral climate we now face.

This battle has been going on since Vladimir Lenin dispatched Julius Hammer to America to raise money for the communist in Russia. That was in the late 1800s. Through stealth and deception they have since transformed our country as you describe. In alliance with the Islamists they are now in position to make their final push. Either we stop them with the revitalized grassroots, like the Tea Party Movement, making our power known, or the game is over. Of course, that depends on honest elections and they are geared up to prevent that through ACORN and its offshoots.

If the elections are honest we will retake political power. If honest elections are subverted then we are looking at an uprising. In what form I do not know. How the government will react, I do not know. Obama has not yet had time to build the domestic police force that is as powerful as our military, as he said in his campaign, but mobilizing union thugs, militants who have illegally crossed our border, and the outright Communists and Muslims in this country could make things dicey. Knowing friend from foe would be difficult.

If they win and we lose most of us conservatives will be imprisoned or slaughtered. Then the pendulum will be right back to where it was when the USSR devolved into "they pretend to pay us and we pretend to work" and we start over again, just fewer of us.

“I always believed there would be a tipping point against the government, but I fear the tipping point might now be an uprising in favor of the government.”

I’ve felt a little uncomfortable for a while about what federal employees WOULDN’T do to keep their outsized pay and benefits, particularly federal law enforcement.

Now, after seeing what happened in Wisconsin with unions mobilized and police unions complicit to some degree it’s clear that this will be used as a template against any federal cutbacks. The coalition of check recipients combined with federal employees/retirees and federal law enforcement and soon the “pink shirts” (the gay parts of the military) - who knows what could happen?

If thug tactics are used to keep the checks flowing, then I think you are right- opting out is the only way to go.

I think there is a better way than “going Galt” - everyone stops working and everyone applies for welfare/food stamps or whatever state/federal programs they can to expedite the bankruptcy of the entitlement gravy train.

DT, are you saying it isn’t going to be interesting how the media digests the new Atlas Shrugged film coming out this next month???

Or just Sam’s musings, in general??? ;-)

I would venture to say that in the future if the bubble bursts, there will be thousands of “individual” Alamo’s and thousands of “individual” San Jacinto’s...

My hope is that we can avoid such an environment, and we need to fight to keep the civil side of our citizenship duties at the polls...When we lose that ability to have confidence in the outcome of those contests, then, we may have a real problem...

And we are heading in that direction of uncertainty at a rapid pace...

You still have confidence?!

Yes, I do...I’m an Election Judge and Precinct Chair in my County...

Houston and Harris County had a real challenge with losing all our machines and election material just before the last election...A lot of things I didn’t like were being forced upon us for no other reason than to discourage us (veteran Election Judges) from officiating those polling locations...

But I think we did pretty good for the most part...

What we all need to do is get invovled with the local polling locations and election authorities and become clerks or Assistant or Presiding Election Judges...Just get a job in the system where you can keep an eye on things...

We have too much fraud running around certain parts of this country and we need to get on it like stink on smelly stuff...The opposition will do everything they can to cheat and cook the results regardless of the type of election system being used...And that should be our primary effort at the grassroots level to keep the election polling locations as pristine and efficient as possible...
