The 22 Most Segregated Cities In America.
Business Insider ^ | 04/01/2011 | Gus Lubin and Christine Jenkins

Racial segregation has been declining since the 1970s but it clearly exists.

For example, the average black person lives in a neighborhood that is 45 percent black. Without segregation, his neighborhood would be only 13 percent black.

The slow decline of segregation was revealed in 2010 census data and analysis by professors at Brown and Florida State University.

John Logan and Brian Stults created a dissimilarity index, which identifies the percentage of one group that would have to move to a different neighborhood to eliminate segregation -- think busing.

A score above 60 on the dissimilarity index is considered very high segregation. 22 metropolitan areas crossed this threshold.

If blacks are 10% of the population, any neighborhood that had 10% blacks would be in fact perfectly segregated.

I was in liberal Santa Barbara this week. Looks to me like all white millionaires.

Surfing and photography appear to be the main industries.

It would seem that at some point in this argument for diversity that a white person would have some rights to live among who he wants to live and not have to move every few years in able to do it.

In other words if I wished to live in an all white neighborhood it should be my right.

Call me what you wish, but what happened to that right?
Well: I know what happened to it, but is it right?

Since all of the cities seem to be ones controlled by Democrat politicians, I think we can safely put the blame on the historically racist Democrat Party.

“The cities” are not at the link. They’re not even on the Brown University link that “Business Insider” directs you to follow. They’re on a PDF.

Why not post the city list on FR?

How can this study claim that cities like New Orleans or the District are segregated yet at the same time black leadership celebrates the fact that these same cities are ‘Chocolate’ flavored and must remain so???

Perhaps these places are not segregated but rather folks feel more comfortable living among their own race.

Try taking the blue line here in L.A which cuts thru the LAC into Long Beach. Like entering the twilight zone. 40% of your trip, you’d swear u were in Tijuana, another 40% and you’re an extra on Boyz N The Hood. I am still shaking my head about Milwaukee..

It sounds like the writer either does not understand the difference between de facto (in fact) and de jure (in law) segregation or understands and wishes to blur the differences.

The first is legal and none of our concern. The second is illegal and hasn't been practiced anywhere in the US for over 40 years.

"We must redistribute them around that nation achieve justice.

They need to be relocated in upscale Liberal neighborhoods, and bused into liberal schools, and given promotions on the job even if they are not qualified,in order to have a fair and equal utopian society.

Pass me some more liberal kool aid, thanks.

I hope while you were in the area, you continued just a bit north and inland to the Santa Ynez Valley and saw places like Solvang....still lily white (except for the inevitable bus staff while dining), but much more conservative.

YEP, People congregate, mix and live with whoever they are MOST COMFORTABLE WITH.

That it just so happened to be with people of the same race should not surprise anyone except the social engineers.

Would you mind zipping up to Bent Olsen's bakery in Solvang and picking us up a couple of buckets of cookies? We just finished the last tub from the freezer last week, and are already mournful...
