Sen. Schumer Stands by His 'Extreme' Comments Sen. Sessions Says Tea Party 'Right, Fundamentally'

WASHINGTON, April 3, 2011

By JOSHUA MILLER

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, said he doesn't regret reporters overhearing him telling Democratic colleagues that Republican budget cuts should be painted as "extreme."

Schumer and Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., sparred on just where the Tea Party political movement stood in relationship to the American people, in an exclusive political debate on "This Week."

Schumer stood by the remarks he made when he was apparently unaware his microphone was open to reporters.

"I have no problem with reporters hearing that," Schumer told anchor Christiane Amanpour. "I said a few hours before [the call] on the floor of the Senate. I've said it on this show. The Tea Party is the group standing in the way. They are extreme," he insisted.

"Any group that says you don't cut oil subsidies to companies making billions and billions of dollars – subsidies that were passed when the price of oil was $17 to encourage production, and now the price is over one-hundred [dollars], and at the same time says: cut student aid to help qualified students go to college. Yeah, I believe they're extreme."

...after receiving his weekly fax telling him to stand by his use of the term “extreme”.

His statements are not extreme (to him) .. he just doesn’t realize that he is TOO STUPID to understand that his statements are extreme.

I know Schumer thinks we are extreme.

It’s the “That’s what they told me to say” that holds him up to me as a fool.

Sen. Charles Schumer, D-New York, said he doesn't regret reporters overhearing him telling Democratic colleagues that Republican budget cuts should be painted as "extreme."

This lead is factually inaccurate. Yes, he did tell that to a group of people, including reporters.

However, a factually correct lead would have included the fact that Schumer said he was instructed by his caucus to paint Republicans in those terms.

Simply more intellectual dishonesty from the media. Like that's a surprise or something.

Perhaps I should’ve pointed out (for the benefit of any DUmmies who may be lurking) that PetroBras is a FOREIGN oil company that Kenyan Strongman Corporal Obama just gave billions of AMERICAN taxpayers’ dollars (i.e., subsidies) to.

Precisely when was such a platform enumerated by Tea Partiers?

Schumer is a fungus.

Uh I don’t recall ever calling my Senator or Representative and telling them to keep oil company subsidies in place.

I do recall calling them and telling them not to vote for Bambi’s porkulus bill and against federalizing every single student loan in the country though.

I hope he keeps it up.

TEA Partiers were called much, much worse in the run up to the 2010 election and the Dems. got their rumps handed to them.

I'm a Tea Partier. I've been to many Tea Party gatherings and I can't remember even one person promoting subsidies for oil companies.

I think there may be a slight possibility that Chuckie The Clown is talking out his Biden.

ABSOLUTELY

A Republican would immediately apologize and slink away.

Democrats NEVER apologize and continue moving forward.

NEVER say you`re sorry. If you do, you`re done, you`ve admitted guilt.
