Congressional leaders Sunday denounced the recent Koran burning in Florida that is being blamed for days of deadly anti-American riots across Afghanistan and hinted at possible congressional condemnation or hearings.
The book burning, done by Florida pastor Terry Jones with little publicity at the time almost two weeks ago, is being blamed for attacks that led to the deaths of seven U.N. workers on Friday.
Protests continued during the weekend, with 10 people killed in rioting in Kandahar on Saturday and Sunday. Hundreds of demonstrators burned an effigy of President Obama on Sunday in Jalalabad while stomping on a U.S. flag and blocking the main highway for three hours, according to reporters in Afghanistan.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was asked by host Bob Schieffer on CBS Face the Nation whether he would introduce a resolution to condemn the burning of the Muslim holy book, as requested by Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
The Nevada Democrat replied, Well, well take a look at this, of course. John Kerry, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, has been on top of this. Hes made many trips to Afghanistan and I think will take a look at this.
On the same show, Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, made an analogy to wartime free-speech limits and said, I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but were in a war.
During World War II, we had limits on what you could do if it inspired the enemy, he said.

I thought this war was to protect out freedom
Bad manners don’t justify murder, mayhem, or vandalism. Of course two years ago we saw murder, mayhem and vandalism when a Koran was not flushed down a toilet. Perhaps since not flushing the Koran causes such problems, we should flush it to stop the problems.
Thank garandgal she found it. There was loads more in those days too. Remember the MovieTone News reels? Plus full length movies and many other posters all aimed at demonizing and humiliating the enemy. That’s how it’s done ... when you want to win.
Burn more and kill anyone that protests, they outed themselves as radical muslims!
This will help you prepare

I’m going to look and see in Sen Graham is up for relection in 2012
‘Was’ being the operative word there. Now it’s about making muzzies happy. Muzzie outreach in NASA. Protect al Qaeda in Libya. Give them reach arounds in Afghanistan.

My thoughts exactly!!
They should be defending his right to do that not condemn it!! They’re setting a terrible precedent.
There’s been a lot of setting of terrible precedents since Obama became President. Why stop now.
He’s the only President I know that went to the United Nations to make a complaint against the State of Arizona
Thanks for the ping, and thanks for sharing the poster on this thread as well. I actually collect WWII posters (don’t have this one yet!). Our elders knew how to define a war, and once so engaged, got on about the business of winning in a no-holds-barred fashion.
C’mon South Carolina, we have GOT to get rid of Graham in 2012. How can you stand the stench?
Yes, they did. IMO the most immoral action in war is doing anything that prolongs it and making excuses for the enemy must certainly give them reason to press on.
Are your posters originals or re-makes?
Another approach to the Koran.

Didn’t someone here on FR have a great post of his dog attaching one soaked in pork fat?
Originals...I have about 40; and a couple from WWI. I also have a Coca-Cola cardboard poster (about 30” x 60”) that features a beautiful USO girl handing a “Coke” to a sailor.
I just love them...the graphics are beautiful...and the range of subjects is endless. My great-aunt was a WAC nurse, so if I had to pick a favorite in my collection it would be this one:

My husband likes the ones with the guns and combat action. I also have a Sullivan Brothers poster that lists them as “Missing in Action”...sadly we know how that turned out.
While the behavior of militant Islamists is horrible, nevertheless, I see the Koran burner’s behavior as akin to yelling fire in a crowded theater. What a dumb thing to do when our people are serving in harms way. Right up there with the guy who protests at military funerals because he has a beef with gays, even though the dead soldiers are straight.
That is really cool. Amazing that paper and cardboard posters can still be found especially from WWI. The one you linked to is a compelling work of art.
“or US Flag is burned or trampled”
One of the first things I thought of when the Cool Aid Kids
started on this thing was the picture of Bill Ayers proudly
and arrogantly standing on the flag.
Why are our polititians even commenting on this? They fuel the fire of Islam by doing so and play right into the Muslim trap. They have established a pattern rather than just ignore these uprisings....our soldiers know fully well how to handle themselves on ME soil.
It gets very tiring seeing our politicians play this game with Muslims...who cry out and we respond with empathy. Let them cry...nothings going to change what they do no matter what the politicians say until the Muslims renounce Islam. Our politicians just continue to give them the attention they desire and bring further attacks on our soldiers.
recently read an article where the Muslims in Spain bought property to build a Mosque....the people buried pigs all over the property and the Muslims would not build there after this.
Seems to me why our military doesn’t take the simple easy way and just line all their bullits with bacon fat....use pigs as Mascots....and drop bacon bits from the sky!
Who was the military general who in a war with them used pigs and it broke up an entire muslim military camp? They ran away!
