Congressional leaders Sunday denounced the recent Koran burning in Florida that is being blamed for days of deadly anti-American riots across Afghanistan and hinted at possible congressional condemnation or hearings.
The book burning, done by Florida pastor Terry Jones with little publicity at the time almost two weeks ago, is being blamed for attacks that led to the deaths of seven U.N. workers on Friday.
Protests continued during the weekend, with 10 people killed in rioting in Kandahar on Saturday and Sunday. Hundreds of demonstrators burned an effigy of President Obama on Sunday in Jalalabad while stomping on a U.S. flag and blocking the main highway for three hours, according to reporters in Afghanistan.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was asked by host Bob Schieffer on CBS Face the Nation whether he would introduce a resolution to condemn the burning of the Muslim holy book, as requested by Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
The Nevada Democrat replied, Well, well take a look at this, of course. John Kerry, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, has been on top of this. Hes made many trips to Afghanistan and I think will take a look at this.
On the same show, Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, made an analogy to wartime free-speech limits and said, I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but were in a war.
During World War II, we had limits on what you could do if it inspired the enemy, he said.

Why is nobody rushing to condemn the subhuman sludge willing to riot and kill people because some jackass in Florida burned a book?
Overwhelm a system and it collapses. Seems like violence pays off big time. Is there a point of no return?
Yah don’t condemn the rioters but some obscure guy in Florida exercising his rights.
I’d love to see the resolution brought up to see which Republicans vote for it.
Hey how about a resolution condemning the murder of Christians by muhammadans in Egypt, Ivory Coast, Iraq, and PAKISTAN!? Think Reid & Kerrey would be in favor of that one?

Ah, some off key notes from the South’s most simpering flautist. No provocation of the enemy during time of war. Obviously Winston Churchill did not get this important memo.
Cloward and Piven were correct, the Chinese/Russian/Iranian/Venezuelan/Mexican “UN” soldiers will land about 2 million deep in CA, OR and WA to collect their debts.
I am completely serious and think there is a reason we do not protect our border and send hundred of thousands into a war that only benefits government contractors, thousands of miles away, fighting Jihadis and Heroin lords.
I am preparing for the worst.
Damn these braying jackasses in the Senate need to wake up and see these people for what they are,Savages.
Great, lets side with the Islamic Terrorists killing Christians....
Terry Jones is right....and sure is exposing those who support our enemy
Burning Bibles is just great, In fact it’s mandatory.
How often do these “lawmakers” flaunt their discontent when the Bible or US Flag is burned or trampled.
They are misrepresentatives.
My thoughts exactly. Why does no one ever condemn the barbarians who go on these rampages? Why is the only condemnation for the guys who burned the Koran?
If one doesn't have the right to speak out on any religion or belief system, then one invites its domination.
The protection of American's right to freedom of speech is vital to the protection of all other freedoms.
But they have not condemned Obama’s war.
Political correctness is winning a war for a bunch of unenlightened, violent barbarians, and I’m not just talking about the various lefty political activists stateside. The only thing that makes me doubt the wisdom of a full or partial withdrawal from Afganistan and Libya is the honor of the soldiers over there who fight and die for it, but I don’t think nation building/foreign aid by the armed forces is much more effective than any other alternative (if there is any). Whenever we leave, Afganistan will be free to flourish or more likely collapse on it’s own. The forces have largely eradicated Al Qaeda, and they can do it again if needed later, possibly with less American lives, at any bunghole in the world that they’re hiding in. And if that’s the case, why not go?
What an absolute disgrace to America these people are.
Lindsey Grahamnesty:
I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but were in a war. During World War II, we had limits on what you could say if it would inspire the enemy.”
Excellent find, TigersEye!
If they’re gonna play fast and loose with the 1st amendment, why don’t they condenm the LSM for giving this crackpot the attention he craves. What if Christians reacted the same way over the NEA funding of submersing a Crucifix in a jar of urine? Or if mobs of Jewish youths rampaged through the streets whenever some a**hole paints a swastika on the wall of a synagogue?
