Boehner to introduce one-week stopgap to stave off shutdown (Pelosi had more of a pair)

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is set to introduce a bill Monday night to fund the military through September and fund government operations for one more week, Republican sources tell The Hill.

Boehner's move is intended to prevent a government shutdown that would start after Friday without another measure to fund the government.

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) said the GOP was trying to prevent a government shutdown "at all costs."

“We’re serious about trying to prevent a government shutdown. We’re also serious about cutting spending," he told reporters after a meeting of the GOP conference on Monday evening.

Boehner told GOP lawmakers attending a closed-door conference meeting that he needed “leverage” going into a meeting with President Obama and Senate Democratic leaders at the White House on Tuesday morning, a lawmaker told The Hill.

“He said he needs this (the as-of-yet-introduced bill) and the support of the conference going into that meeting at the White House, because he feels it gives him more leverage,” the source explained to The Hill.

Ha. That’s all you’ve got instead of logic? Pretending I’m a Boehner staffer? What a laugh.

It’s already been ruled unconstitutional. When a hack judge in WI ruled for spurious reasons—with a massive conflict of interest—against Walker, he stopped implementing his legally passed law. Pelosi broke rules with both the passage and the contents of Obamacare. Then it was ruled unconstitutional.

But the funding and implementation go on.

Haven’t seen Boehner lifting a finger to stop it.

..........Sir, you leave out an important few words, to wit:...........”many conservatives think that UNDER THE APOCALYPTIC Circumstances we are in it is better to NOT borrow ANY MORE MONEY and apportion out on a priority basis the 2.5 trillion in income the government has”........

This decidely IS NOT “shutting the government down”...the government will go on no matter what..........just on a much reduced basis.

you are just repeating the favorite Dimocratic talking point when you even use the words “shut the Gov’t. down”.............thats a DIM/MSM co-operative scare tactic and you are, for the most part, on the wrong forum to be repeating Dim talking points and scare tactics.............

Basically, most of us are not smoking anything and never have. We’re just tired of the damn government destroying our kids and grandkids future by borrowing trillions and printing worthless trillions while using the scare tactic of “shut the gov’t down”..............!!!!! The feds should be permanently enjoined by Constitutional edict from borrowing money without a super majority in both houses.

For some reason many conservatives think it would be better to shut the Gov't down.

Because it advances our (the right's) interests even if it doesn't advance us politically.

Do you know why the left always wins? Because they think long term. They always move the debate in their direction. They demand a mile, we give them a yard. Before the ink is dry on the compromise, they start demanding two miles.

They are the Borg. They never quit pushing. And until we adopt their tactics of demanding the ultra- radical and settling for the radical, we'll continue to lose as we have for 100 years.

You want to be a winner, do what the winners do.

Unfortunately, they are not serious about governing...

Boner... Obama is going to kick your *ss every which way from Sunday. He is vastly smarter and vastly more political that you'll ever be. You've been had, sir. Please go a way...

I can be patient like the old bull and young bull at the top of the hill joke.

We need a budget that starts trimming everything. The trend to more and bigger deficits needs to be reversed quickly. If it takes another week or so to do that with respect for our obligations, so be it.

But what I am getting pxssed about is me (the little guy) paying more in taxes than these multi-natl corporations and banks that we bailed out, and who are now making billions in profits. As a small business guy semi-retired I’m tired of being a sap to those corps. who are as much in bed with the commies in China as our country. As a businessman I can tell you that deficits come at ya from both ways.

It takes Obama only two years to rack up a $6 trillion deficit and the best the GOP can do is cut $5 trillion OVER TEN YEARS?!?!?!?! Why even bother with these fools...
