U.S. gasoline prices soared nearly 9 cents over the last week to $3.68 a gallon, the highest pump price on record for April, the Energy Department said on Monday. The national price for regular unleaded gasoline is up 86 cents from a year ago, based on the departments weekly survey of fuel prices at service stations. Cleveland and Chicago had the biggest weekly gasoline price increases, rising 19 and 18 cents a gallon, respectively.Drivers paid more for gasoline as rising crude oil costs were passed along at the pump.

Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
I wish I was paying $3.68. Just filled up at $4.29.
soared to $3.68?.....I wish I could find it for $3.68!
The Won promised to fill my tank... I’m still waiting... waiting...
Starting to see $ 4.00 gas in Baltimore MD. Haven’t seen any Odumbo 2012 bumperstickers yet.

9 cents?
It went up 24 cents here...
LAST NIGHT!
Starting to see $ 4.00 gas in Baltimore MD. Haven’t seen any Odumbo 2012 bumperstickers yet.
I filled up at 3.47 here in North Austin.
Yesterday had to fill the rear tank on me pick em up truck at $4.239 a gallon. NOT happy! A lousey 13 gallons cost around $55.00.
Over the past week I’ve witnessed a rise of nearly twenty cents per gallon at stations I regularly pass (from $3.49 to the current range of between $3.65 to $3.69).
And Memorial Day’s nearly two months away.
Yup... and I'm beyond caring anymore. The majority of American voters wanted hope and change so I hope they enjoy it... the idiots who voted for him deserve everything Osama takes from them. Regardless of how he does it.
3.80 a gallon here. I burn a tank of fuel a day. My competitors are all waiting for one of us to raise our prices so the rest can follow suit.
Unicorns and Rainbows, farting from our tailpipes.
I agree that prices will be brutal this summer.
During the 2008 runup to $145 per barrel, I knew high gas prices primarily resulted from speculators fueled on zero interest rate borrowing.
This time, we not only have increased demand and reduced supply with speculation, but we also have drilling moratoriums (moritoria?) and widespread instability in the Middle East. The fundamentals are accounting for much more of this runup in price than in 2008, IMO.
It is going to be bad. I feel like we are on the verge of persistent $4-$5 gallon gas. This could change if a coming Republican controlled Sentate and Republican president allow widespread drilling but I don’t have any faith in them to do so.
Baby Bush caved to his oil buddies. I’m sure the GOP president and Congress will as well.
Care to elaborate on how Bush did that exactly? Any hard data or facts to back up that theory?
We are drilling here, right now, at full capacity. Rig counts have steadily increased since 2008 and are due to set records very soon.
Non-news.
We now are powered by rainbow unicorns and pixy dust. Haven’t you heard, “hope and change” is in charge now and all we need to do is inflate our tires.
Obvioulsy this isn’t a story like years past where the gas prices were nearly $.60 less and a major topic!
